View Full Version : 2022 has sucked as much as 2021 *AB TRIGGERS*
I’ve closed my old thread as the title ‘2022 has to be better’ was taunting me lol.
However, the physio yesterday did raise a valid point about everything that’s happened recently with my health. My back issues started around the same time as my stomach bug last November… is stress the cause of my sciatica, or at least contributed?
Stress always causes flares for me, so she could have something in that - also when you were ill it's quite possible you twisted or pulled something? I know I've done that in the past and it's changed things for me...
No matter what the cause, the important thing is to find a way of dealing with it or living with it as best you can.
I wish I could make it better for you...
I’ve finished my first MH First Aider assessment! And about 10 days early, too lol
Well done love! Did you enjoy it?
It’s been an odd day. We saw Jurassic World - I loved it! Chris Pratt lassoing a dinosaur has to be hands down the sexiest thing I’ve seen on the big screen this year ;) I then finished my marathon binge watching of every Stranger Things episode to date, just in time for the next instalment on 1 July.
But all day I’ve also been dealing with fear for my aunt, as her asshole ex husband lost the plot, threatened her and the dog with a bow and arrow, barricaded himself in the house with armed police and a helicopter surrounding it, and then getting himself arrested for attempted murder after threatening police with said bow and arrow….
She’s safe, staying with a friend and the police are helping her find somewhere to go. But geez…..
I can't image how you have been feeling all day with that going on. So glad she's safe and I hope he's kept away for a very, very long time.
I've heard such mixed things about Jurassic World! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Oh wow, that sounds like quite an ordeal for your aunt especially. Terrifying stuff. So glad she’s ok.
As was Jurassic World dominion I was actually quite disappointed. The idea of bringing the old and the new crews together was exciting for me but there wasn’t enough interaction between them all for my liking. It felt like it was a them vs us kinda situation, two movies thrown into one. I think they really missed a trick there. It was still an enjoyable movie but could’ve been so much better imo.

So glad your aunt is safe. I can't imagine what she must be going through. Xx
He’s in court this morning, but we don’t know what he’s been charged with

Can I just say that I think you are being a bit harsh with the title of this thread. We’re only halfway through the year and although you have had a lot to deal with in the past 6 months there have been positives and you have loads to look forward to. Wimbledon, home improvements (yeah I know, tough while it’s happening but totally worth it when finished), your studies, and a new car coming soon. The back end of the year is looking better on a personal level.
Of course your uncle going loco and thinking he’s Robin Hood is a pretty major hit to have to take but everyone is safe and well thankfully and that is the important part.

21-06-22, 03:28 PM
Sorry, your aunts ex.
How are you doing love? How's your aunt?
I’m angry, furious. But also very grateful she’s safe. Apparently, my aunt is really calm and even went to work today - I’m not sure I would have been if I’d had a loaded crossbow aimed at me and the dog…..
Sadly it depends the level of abuse she's been subjected to - or the level of shock she's dealing with.
I’m angry, so (swear)(swear)(swear)(swear)ing angry. As if he hadn’t hurt her enough, he’s now going to put her through god alone knows how much more pain
Stella180
21-06-22, 10:55 PM
Plea of not guilty?
Don’t know yet. I can’t understand how he could when the area was swarming with armed police and he pointed the loaded crossbow out through a window at them, but he’s always relied on his charm to get him out of everything …..
Stella180
21-06-22, 11:18 PM
Sorry I misunderstood. I really don’t know what to say or how to make things better.
Hey lovely, how are you today? Any news?
Today is not going to plan. The worktop we ordered for the bathroom is out of stock. I found it on eBay and the order was accepted then cancelled. I can’t access my physio app to get my exercises and my physio was supposed to ring an hour ago but her headset is playing up. She sent through the login details again but it’s still not working.
I’m antsy
Oh love, I'm not sure it's expected for you to not be antsy itms?
Weekly round up……
Pain. That’s it.

You lucky lucky lady. I hope you have an absolutely fabulous day at Wimbledon. Make sure you take loads of pics and enjoy the traditional strawberries and cream.
I’ll need to take out another mortgage to buy strawberries and cream lol
(rofl) (rofl) (rofl) Get a bigger handbag and sneak some in! :)
Stella180
03-07-22, 09:06 AM
You can’t go to Wimbledon and not have strawberries and cream. That would be rude. It’s a tradition.
I feel I’ve wronged Wimbledon. Prices for food are high but ‘as it’s such an integral part of the event’ strawberries and cream are only £2.50. I’ll let you know if we get more than a mouthful ;)
The prices were much higher when I was living in Wimbledon! (rofl) (rofl)

How's the resting and pacing day gone?
I rested, and rested a lot more - I tried to do some things but just couldn’t manage to focus. The only job I had to do was proof read the magazine, and I managed that so it’s a win
Well done for doing that.
How are you today?
Tired. I managed to doze off with my coffee in my hands, and spilled iit in my lap lol (no harm done)
Oh ouch! Hope it was cold at the time.
Resting today?
Warm…. I might try some study but will play it by ear
Just be kind to you love.

Monday was exhausting for you, so it will take a while to recharge those batteries. Remember, if your phone completely runs down, it takes longer to recharge it. Basically, I'm saying that you are just a mobile phone, with sparkle issues! (rofl)
(rofl) well, this mobile battery is struggling. I’m trying to study but literally keep dozing off in front of the laptop. It may be time to admit defeat today….

Have you got resting time built in among all that?
Make sure you do. Surely you need to keep up with the tennis whilst sitting and drinking pimms?
Of course. Do you think my friend would mind having it on in the background?
rofl, I doubt she'd mind at all, espech if you got strawberries and pims involved..
How are you today?
Good. How's your day going? Are you able to build in self care?
I’ve just spent an hour reading the Wimbledon programme :)
magie06
07-07-22, 05:01 PM
You are really going to miss the tennis when it's over.
How big is the Wimbledon Programme?
Huge! It’s got articles on everything you could think of and bios on all the bigger names. It’s more of a book on this championships rather than a programme
Wow! Glad you're enjoying it!
Just got back from physio. Because of some changes in my symptoms with the sciatica, they’ve decided to refer me for an urgent mri. I’m sure there’s nothing challenging, but actually I’m glad - if there is something underlying I want to know
At least they are checking - it's always easier to deal with issues if you know what they are...
Exactly. But I’ve been discharged from physio for now…
How are you feeling about being discharged for now?
I understand why. They don’t want to do anything to aggravate things if there’s an underlying cause. But I’ve been in a lot of pain today and I’m disappointed that they can’t do anything to help atm.
I understand that so much. It's really hard. Are you talking to Si about it?
Yeah, he knows. I’ve had lots of hugs
Morning love, how are you today? Pain levels? Mood? Self care plan?
Pain levels, eurgh. Mood, so so, self care, men’s Wimbledon final ;)
Sorry the pain is high... If it helps a little, both Hazel and I are struggling too...
How was the men's final?
Kyrgios put on a performance…… ;)
So, what are you doing now that Wimbledon is all finished? How's your pain? Resting? Pacing?
I’ve finished the cross stitch for mum and dad’s golden wedding anniversary (September), so today I shall be studying :)
Oh wow! Do we get a sneak peak of the cross stitch?
When I’m dripping less sweat……..

That's absolutely gorgeous!!!!
Hope you don't get it too. Are you eligible for the antivirals if you do?
Thankfully, as a volunteer with the hospital, I get free tests. She’s really feeling poorly including horrendous back pain. Poor baby.
I don’t know about the antivirals - I’m worried about the mri atm
It's worth calling ahead and letting them know. If you are still testing negative on the day of the MRI you shouldn't have a problem...
How's today's pain levels? How's Jess?
Pain is there ;). Haven’t seen Jess this morning
Bugger for pain. Hope it f*cks off asap....
I assume you're staying away from Jess?
Tbh, she doesn’t like affection so she’s always isolating lol
Lol... How are things between you atm? How are you feeling?
Jess and I are good. We had a row last week but that’s the only one in a while…
Im ok, sore and tired but managing to get on with things

I'm sure that the weather is lovely over there. Just like here.
Ouch. We’ve got brand new, very sharp knives. I tried very hard to take the top of my finger off…… I’m not normally squeamish at all but I think it was just one pain too many - I made an emergency call to Si and called him home from sainsburys!
It’s fine, I’ll be fine, but today wasn’t the day to do that.
OOOO ouch! WTF were you doing with sharp knives in the first place? Does it need to be glued/stitched back together? Are you OK?
They’re brand new and it sliced through the orange so quickly! I’m ok, I was a bit shaky - which has really annoyed me cos I do not go all unnecessary over a cut normally. Si’s put the dressing on tightly and it’s not bleeding through so I think it’s going to be ok without glueing
See, you'd have been better off with chocolate... or cake....
magie06
17-07-22, 12:43 PM
Or ice cream. Ice cream wouldn't have done that to you! Healthy eating is dangerous!
I was completely pathetic earlier. I went to slice a tomato and got really panicky about it in case I repeated my actions ;)
Definitely not something to think of as pathetic. We have a bread knife that I just have to look at and it cuts me. I now don't use it without wearing silicon oven gloves so it hurts that before me....
I had my MRI this afternoon. It wasn’t the most comfortable experience of my life, lying, with a bad back, on a plastic board :/. Anyway,, it’s done now and I’ve just got to wait for the results
Strugglingmum
20-07-22, 10:46 PM
At least it's done now. Xx
Today, I want to cry. I woke up in absolute agony and took ten minutes just to stand up straight. Even doing the slightest thing like running a cloth round the kitchen hurts. I never thought I’d say this, but my back is eclipsing my CRPS pain atm
Oh love I'm so sorry!
Is there anything you can do to rest and pace today? Can you call and get your appointment bought forward at all?
Jaquaia
21-07-22, 01:13 PM
(panda)
Just occurred to me - was it the MRI? I find they are so uncomfortable as you have to lie in positions that aren't natural (for me anyway) My back doesn't lie straight, or my shoulders, hips etc and I'm always in horrific pain after.... I hope it's easing even a little bit.
The MRI didn’t help but the Spanish Chuckle Brothers made a huge effort to make sure I was comfortable (the radiographers). But it’s been bad for a while.
I didn’t pace today, I went out for lunch with my best friend. I know I really should have cancelled but I really needed to see her itms. I haven’t got my appointment through yet. Tbh as the referral was done by the physio on behalf of the doctor, I don’t even know what doctor/department I’m supposed to be seeing…..
Glad they tried to make you comfortable. (panda) (bear)
Sometimes seeing your friends are worth the pain, so I'm glad you did that, but can you rest and pace now? What about tomorrow?
Could you call them and ask?
Ive had a nap and am done for the day. Tomorrow, I’m seeing my curate, having my hair cut and finishing the assessment for the MH first aider course that has to be in Saturday. Does that count ;)
Hmm..... Not sure it counts as pacing.... or resting...
Pfft, there had better be lots of self care too....
You asking me to practise what I preach? ;)

Not yet, physio rang me yesterday to say there’s been delays in getting the reports. So we wait

OldMike
29-07-22, 08:46 AM
Arggghhh waiting can be so annoying hope you get the MRI results soon.
Hey love, how are you doing?
Well, my cleaner is on holiday for a month so I had to clean the 3 bathrooms this morning. I can’t expect Si to do everything. I’m sore now but it’s done.

Strugglingmum

Glad fil is doing ok. (panda)
Gorgeous. But apparently it’ll screw up my back even more so I’m not allowed in iit…..
I was wondering how you'd get in (and out more importantly) as they're quite low... So you get to stand and go "ooh" and "ahh" and tell her how pretty she is then?
How are you doing love? Honestly? How's your back? Are you pacing?
That’s about it - it’s a bit gutting but the main thing is Si and Jess are happy. They’ve decided that they’re both insured on the MX and on Jess’s car and they’ll take it in turns to drive the MX.
Honestly? My back is still pretty awful, but I’m looking after it as best as I can and am doing yoga everyday
I'm sorry you can't get in it...
Yes honestly. I'm glad you're doing what you can to help your back. Does that include pacing and resting?
Good! I'm glad you're resting and pacing.
Do you have a new cross stitch project?
I do, it’s a very simple one I can do with my eyes closed lol.
So resting went out the window. Katie rang with half hours notice asking me to view a house with them. We’ve been trying t9 talk them out of moving so, after we saw the house, given all that’s happened today, they wanted to know what was the right thing to do. Katie’s bf is a unrealistic optimist so it became a little heated. Anyway, I’m sore, and tired and just want to crash
I didn't realise they were thinking about moving already - seems so soon after they moved in!
Hope you've just rested since it all happened....
Had a letter. MRI Is ‘reassuringly normal’
magie06
06-08-22, 07:13 PM
That's great (?) news. Have you been resting today?
We’ve been binge watching The Sandman so def resting.
I know it’s good there’s nothing wrong but it doesn’t feel good - I was hoping there’d be something they could say ‘that’s the problem, this is the fix’ itms
I totally understand that - I burst into tears when they told me that there was nothing "majorly" wrong with my neck... I just wanted something "fixable" rather than "fibro and live with it"
I wish that there was something as an easy and quick fix, and I'm sorry you are having to deal with all this. You don't deserve it at all. I hate that you're feeling so bad...
What I’m truly afraid of, though Si thinks I’m overreacting, is that it’s CRPS related…
magie06
07-08-22, 04:48 PM
I don't like the diagnosis that there is nothing wrong either. It pushes the suffering to one side.
I can totally understand that fear Paula - I must say it's crossed my mind too. I'm hoping and praying it isn't....
Just had a discussion with Si…
Me - I hate Im never going to be able to get in the MX
Si - never say never
Me - oh come on, things aren’t getting better
Si - you’ve got a strong will, of course you’ll get better
Me - dumbstruck at how unrealistic he is about this
I know, that's one of the reasons Marc and I have xtrails - because I can get in it without crippling myself...
I'm sorry love....
Hey gorgeous, how are you doing?
I’m sore. I decided to go to aainsburys on my own this morning. The scooter I borrowed kept breaking down on me, and I got right to the end and my SmartShop basket crashed….. so much for independence
Jaquaia
08-08-22, 01:58 PM
You went on your own and only tech issues got in the way. Isn't managing to drive there on your own a measure of independence?
Try not to be too hard on yourself, easier said than done, I know. But if tech hadn't gone tits up you would have managed it on your own.
magie06

Jaq is right. I've had similar happen to me and it's really awful as you feel so helpless. It's not a "fail" it's a "try again"
You are a force of nature, this wasn't down to you.
Hope you've been resting.
I think you're amazing doing it when it's not that long ago you were really poorly and doing it battling CRPS too. You can do it, just need better tech to help.

Yeah, it’s too hot to do anything else
I’ve got a day to myself, with nothing that desperately needs doing. I did plan on being productive today but I’m tired and it’s hot, so I might just do a bit of yoga and some cross stitch and chill (once I’ve got myself in the shower …..)

I hope that you are in the coldest room in the house and you stay there for the day.
I’m ok. Hot, asthma-y and sore but I’ve done some study and now reading my 4th book this week!
You are a whirling book devourer this week!
Just did yoga. I was bored with Yoga for Sciatica so tried Yoga for lower back relief. How different can they be? Turns out, a lot. Ow
Ouch! Are you generally enjoying the yoga?
Enjoying? No. Si asked if it’s helping. Again, no. But it’s not doing any harm and I need to strengthen my core to protect my back
I can understand that... I'm proud of you for keeping up with it...
What plans do you have for today?
Possibly going to a local antiques/jewellers shop to get a necklace valued for Jess. It was a 21st birthday present from a great aunt. Edna’s husband was very wealthy and spent lots on her - the necklace looks to be 18ct gold and has got lots of emeralds and diamonds (we think) all over it. If it is what we think, it’ll be a good contribution to a deposit for a house when the time comes. And, of course, we’d need to get it insured
I’m not doing any yoga ;)
That sounds fun!
No yoga today or for a while?
Fair enough.
Hope you've had a lovely day..
