It’s my wedding anniversary today and, not only are we going out out, we’re actually doubling up! Bullet Train at the cinema, then out to a Caribbean restaurant! (party)

Happy wedding anniversary Paula and Mr Paula. You are married the same length of time as Mr Magie and me. We got married on 02/06/01.
That sounds like a wonderful way to spend today! There's a great Caribbean restaurant near us - Turtle Bay and it's awesome!
Happy anniversary to you both xx
Yep it was Turtle bay in Winchester :). Really yummy, and it was 241 cocktails - honestly I only asked for one, but they gave me two anyway….. and Brat Pitt - oops, I mean the film, was fab!
I love Turtle Bay! So glad you loved it! 241 cocktails are awesome, happy hour is also awesome ;)
Glad "the film" was fab too! :)
It’s been a busy week. Lunch with my bf yesterday, and out to dinner with my oldest friend, and our hubbies) tonight. Diet’s out of the window and I’m sore, but it’s been fun

So glad you've had fun.....that's as important as diet!!
So glad you've had such a good week!
What's your plans for this weekend?
Sleep mainly, I’m exhausted
Hey you, you've been quiet.... You OK?
Yeah, not much to talk about really
That doesn't sound like you're ok to me....
Im still sore, and bored because I can’t do what I want to do, but I’m ok
What is it that you want to do? What are your plans for today?
Revising for my theology study. I’m just whinging - I went out 3 days in a row last week and was exhausted so I know my limits. It’d just be nice to get out of the house. Although I can’t today, Si has taken my car to work - he didn’t fancy the MX in the rain ;)
Lol, such a wuss! It's bucketing it down...
Can you do little bits of study with resting and pacing in the middle?
Im fine, still sore but just getting on with it
I'm sorry you are still sore lovely... Are you able to do any study or is it getting in the way of that?
How is everyone else? All doing well?
I’m studying, it’s a good distraction. My mob are good, yeah :) Jess is being lovely atm
So glad!
Glad the study is helping!
Ermm, we’ve got to get it confirmed but it seems like we’ve bought a can of dog food that wins us £10,000 in a prize draw…..
Really? OMG that's amazing!!!!
Asking for a friend, what's the food and your code? (rofl) (rofl) (rofl)
(rofl)
And, this is now done….

You are very talented.
Ok. We’ve been doing our dressing room (mainly we’re not having a wardrobe, just a rail) which has been a bigger headache than we thought but oh so much cheaper than a new wardrobe…… and I’m revising
The first attempt fell off the wall just as I was putting the last clothes on it…..
In other news, I’ve just done a utilities calculator for when the prices shoot up in October. It estimated we’ll be paying £500 per month!
Oh no! What a palaver!
The utility bills are ridiculous... We're feeling it already, let alone with the next rise.
My dressing room is finished. I now have a whole room dedicated to my clothes, make up, hair etc :). (And yes I know I’m very lucky….) (and yes there is a small corner for Si….) ;). My bedroom looks huge now!
We’re out down the pub shortly, but neither Si nor I are planning to drink - what a waste. Middle age has really set in

Sounds wonderful. Enjoy being teetotal!!
So glad it's all sorted! :)
Hope you have a good night tonight lovely x
I’ve been a wee bit grumpy the past couple of days. But I’ve just had an email from the kennels where we got our dogs from to say that Butcher’s have told them about their bit of our prize - 10;000 meals for the greyhounds in their care. For a small charity, that’s a huge contribution so I’m absolutely chuffed to bits we could do that for them
Why the grumpiness? Want to talk?
Aww I didn't know you were passing it forward to the kennels. That's so amazing! It will change so much for them! That's awesome.
Just sore and wanting answers…..
I went to see a friend this morning. It was lovely - and she’s an incredible baker so I’m now full of cake ;)

Everything is better after cake!
Any news of any updates?
Cake is magic...
Waiting to see the advanced physio on 13th
FIL has had a fall and is back in hospital
Oh no! How's Si coping with it? How are you coping?
It must feel like forever to get to the 13th...
We’re ok. He’s where he needs to be atm.
Huge hugs lovely, it's far from an easy time. Are you going to be able to work through your options for self care for a little while? Resting? Pacing?
It’s going to be too chaotic here for a while. The decorators in Monday for 3 weeks, doing a large chunk of the house, so I’ll need to manage my MH as well as dealing with the dog’s stress. I’ll try to look after myself
You seem quiet, I'm wondering if I should be concerned about you?
No, im fine, mentally anyway (ask me in a couple of days when the decorators in lol). I’m just struggling with the pain
OK, thank you for letting me know x
Ok…. I’ve just agreed to film myself talking about how I look after my mental health for the hospital (World Mental Health Day)
Wow! That's awesome! Can we share it to on the FB page?
I don’t know whether the hospital claims it itms?
Fair enough!!! I'm really proud of you for being such a great ambassador and smashing down those barriers!
I am so happy we were able to help the kennels out. They’re a really small charity and this is going to make a huge difference
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02Mnh5sEwP8GXrhAVsyhT4h1 HVWrsqtLw9Dpqa3TxZgS4oXpKHoxURHLPpZtsVkv5rl&id=140115126025085
That's a huge amount! So pleased you could do that!
Seen the physio. It’s not crps! Two facet joints at the bottom of my spine have shifted and all the muscles around them have clenched. She said my nervous system is hypersensitive due to crps which is making it worse. She’s referring me urgently to chiropractor for treatment and, if that doesn’t work, she’ll refer me to Pain Consultant for injections x
Oh wow! That's great news that it's not CRPS. Hooray for a diagnosis with treatment plans! How are you feeling?
Strugglingmum
13-09-22, 03:51 PM
Pleased for a diagnosis!! Hopefully you'll get seen soon and get that pain under control
Very, very, very relieved!
That is so much better than the CRPS spreading. I'm so relieved for you. Are you being kind to yourself today and tomorrow so as to allow the stress to lift a bit and the anxiety leave you whilst you digest the news?
I’ve plonked myself on the sofa with a heat pad all day as she was a bit rough with me this morning. Tomorrow morning I’m part of a walkaround of the local maternity unit to assess how fit for, purpose it is for people with disabilities of all types, but shall probably need to rest afterwards
I'm glad you're planning on some rest... Please be kind to you.
So, that hurt….. still, I’ve already gotten a telephone appointment with the back people for next Thursday :)
Wow, that's quick to have come through. I'm so pleased for you!
Resting and pacing?
Or not then?
How did it go around the maternity dept today?
It went very well. There’s a lot of issues but part of the reason we were doing it was to maybe make a case for some grants. But it broke me.
Have you been able to rest properly? Can you schedule in some serious self care tomorrow?
I’ve already cancelled coffee with a friend tomorrow. It’s hard to do much self care with the decorator in, but I’ll try
How much longer are they in for?
I don’t know, possibly up to another couple of weeks. He’s had a lot of repair work to do and he’s only just starting painting - and then he’s got to do our bedroom, en-suite, downstairs bathroom and utility
Oh that sounds like you're going to have him in there for a while. I'm concerned that you aren't able to get in self care etc for that long - especially when you're in pain already...
I have just done 15 mins yoga (she told me Tuesday nothing I did would make it worse). It’s not the same with all the noise going on but it was something
Oh love. What have you got planned for tomorrow? Are you due to see your curate soon? You're sounding a bit flat, I know with everything going on it's tough, but should I be worried?
I was due to see my curate tomorrow but I cancelled as, with my back hurting so much, and the house being like a bomb site, I just couldn’t face it.
I’m ok, not great but no need to worry. Tomorrow I need to write up and send my notes on the maternity walkabout
I will worry, it's something I do!
What do you have planned for your self care and recharge day?

I’m watching (finally) the new Downton Abbey movie does that count?
Oh, and WEVE GOT OUR PRIZE MONEY!!
Jaquaia
16-09-22, 02:02 PM
That most definitely counts!
Ooh! Going to treat yourselves?
OO I'm glad you're resting!
What plans have you got for the money?
We’ve been able to be a bit more relaxed about the house renovations. I’m having some long overdue work done on my teeth. And the rest were going to put in our savings
Jaquaia
16-09-22, 02:33 PM
I hope there's going to be cake at the very least!!!
Definitely cake and prosecco and gin!
I’ve had the copy letter from the physio to my GP, confirming ‘facet degeneration’. But it really tickled me when she commented I had an ‘analgic gait’ which, Dr Google tells me, is a gait that’s taken on to avoid pain. No shit Sherlock (giggle)
(rofl) it's always amusing how they phrase things...
Sooooo, this happened. I may have ‘accidently’ enrolled on this course ;)

I’ve had a call from the back specialist. I’ve got a face to face appointment tomorrow at 4.30. (It’s a busy day, I’ve got a call from the college re my course, I’m seeing my bf for lunch, then this. Todays a resting day..)
So glad you've had that call!
Eeeeekkkkkkk I’m officially enrolled on the 9 Month level 3 Understanding Mental Health course!
Woohoo! That's fantastic!
Jaquaia
23-09-22, 10:06 PM
Not bad for an accident;)
Not bad at all lol
I’m hurting tonight after seeing a chiropractor. And he’s warning me it’ll get worse over the next few days (he likened it to how I’d feel after a long run - not sure I’ve ever known that experience…). I intend to sit in front of the tele and sulk this weekend
I'm sorry it's painful, but glad you're sitting and pacing...
He reckons it’s not the facet joints that are causing the problem, but bursitis in my hip. He touched a particular point and I became somewhat intimate with the ceiling…. We’re going to work on very gentle stretches to try to release the adductor muscles (he said I was ‘unusual’ with the combination of CRPS and Hypermobility lol) to release the tension on my hip
Ouch! Definitely slow and gentle with those love... Lol... unusual? lol... Surely the term is "unique" or as I like to be referred to as "medically interesting"....
How are you doing today lovely? How's the pain? Mood?
Pain - bleurgh, mood. - ok
Are you resting and pacing?
Bored? No cross stitch project?
I have, but didn’t fancy it today. But I did manage to get most of my pictures back up on the wall
Well done for getting the pictures back up. How much longer have you got works going on in your house?
About another week for the painting, we think. Carpets are coming 17 October
It is. The end to chaos, mess and catching my feet and dress on gripper rods…..
OO gripper rods are lethal! Hope you haven't hurt yourself or your dresses!
I have got a hole in my toe lol
OO ouchy! I hope you've had it cleaned and checked and dressed if needed?
Yes, it’s fine, mum (giggle)
Lol..
How are you today love?
I’m ok. Backs a little easier, hip is worse. Si has to do my exercises for me as per chiropractors instructions. I don’t know why, but Si’s lucky I didn’t thump him last night lol
Oh love, that's horrible..
magie06
27-09-22, 04:35 PM
I hate when other people get you to do the exercises that you're supposed to be doing yourself. My physio sent G the exercises she wants me to do. So I'm being picked on every day. (blush)
(rofl) (rofl) Marc enjoys torturing me with them - especially when he has to do circles to make my knee move...
We went to the theatre last night to watch our niece in Kinky Boots. For those who know the story, she played Lauren. It was brilliant! We had such a good time, though Si was very uncomfortable with his niece’s first line containing the word w@nker, and with her kissing someone (rofl)
(rofl) (rofl) That's so awesome!

That's awesome! :)
How's your pain today love? Has it settled at all?
Yes, it’s settled to pre *when they started to muck about with it* levels, so I’ve been able to push myself a bit more today. We’ve been pushing my exercises a bit more too - I’m supposed to feel my adductor muscles stretch but, because of HMS, I’m not. So the stretch needs to be deeper, but that hurts my hip so it’s a catch 22 situation….
That is really tough. I wish it was easier for you and you weren't in pain..

Stylish light there Paula.
Thanks, Matt
Went for my flu jab today, the flu clinic was in a tent in the surgery car park and the queue was 25 minutes long. I know that’s not too bad (my parents’ was 3 hours!) but standing for that length of time was difficult, especially after 3 hours in the car yesterday, and I’m feeling it tonight :(
In better news, we’ve been able to bring the carpet appt forward to next Monday (party)
Standing that long is so hard - I can't stand still I have to do some odd kind of shuffling from one foot to the other or just ask for a chair.... Are you resting today?
YAY for carpets!
I’ve got the house completely to myself today (first time in weeks) so will be resting with studying. I didn’t manage any yesterday as I was too sore so I’m looking forward to it
Have you had a lovely, restful day?
Did you do things that are good for the soul?
I studied, watched a bit of tv, did some Spanish. So yes :)
Go you!
What's on your agenda for today?
Eye clinic this morning and housegroup tonight
I’m so relieved. With my weight gain this year, I was worried the pressure would have gone up but they did a full work up including scans and there’s been no change since April :)
Today was day 2 with the chiropractor. He was concerned that I was in so much pain after our last session and when doing the exercises, so he used a massage gun on me, which was lovely, and ha asked me to get one and use it every other day ;)
Carpet day today! My dresses will par-teeeeee (party)
Yay for carpet day! How did it go?
Which massage gun did he recommend?
Be said, not the most expensive, try and find the ones on Amazon that are heavily discounted. Other than that he left it up to me lol. I will report back ;)
Thank you!
How are you today? How's your pain? Sleep?
Its come but im not allowed to try it til tomorrow. Ill let you know
Im ok. Did possibly too much for FIL today and im sore, but he needed the help. Sleep’s ok (yay)
Thank you.
How are you today? Do you have any plans? Pain levels? What's your mood like?
Dentist this morning for ‘remedial work’
Other than that I need to finish off minutes from a Monday meeting and prep for another meeting tomorrow. And do some studying
Can you rest and pace in between?
Am doing, just been meditating
Good! Are you finding it helpful?
Yep, even tried to do some when the dentist was filing my teeth ;)
Ok, I can barely see straight so am officially putting the metaphorical books away
Oh love... (panda) (bear)
Im ok, just tired. Its been a long week
So, ive bitten the bullet and got a doctors appointment (face to face no less) next Friday as I'm so tired all the time. I actually fell asleep eating my lunch today. If its anything, its probably my thyroid but I can’t remember the last time I saw my GP and thought I’d better get a check up
magie06
13-10-22, 08:02 PM
That's a good idea. Please pace for the next few days.
Well done! Also seriously impressed you got a face to face appointment!
I know! And not too long a wait!
Tired but off to get a mani pedi :)
So yesterday, I had the first post I’ve had for several days (though it came mid afternoon, rather than the mid morning were used to). In it was an appointment card to see my psychiatrist. TODAY.
Wow, that's a lot of notice... Are you going on your own? How do you feel about that?
Si went with me. I was pleased, actually, as I wanted to talk about coming off the vortioxetine. Thankfully, he was on the same page so it’s half dose for 6 weeks, then I see him again and, if all ok, I stop completely (party)
That's awesome! So glad it went well!!

20-10-22, 09:18 AM
Brilliant!
Morning love, how are you today?
A bit nauseous, got a bit of a headache, but otherwise managing. Got to get on with my assessment today though I managed to complete my induction training yesterday (for a job I’ve been doing for a decade lol) so I can focus 100% on the assessment now
Well done! Make sure you are pacing and eating and drinking properly too please?
I do not feel well. Ironically, I’ve got a GP face to face appointment tomorrow to talk about why I’m so tired so i shall be seeing him while feeling very sick for a completely different reason lol. My family rallied around me today - katie came over to paint my nails and Si and Jess looked after all the jobs I normally do. And Si introduced me to Ted Lasso :)
Oh love, I'm sorry to hear that. Is it more mental or physical not feeling well?
I'm glad that everyone is there to help support you.
Nausea and headache. Classic discontinuation symptoms so ive just got to go with it
Jaquaia
21-10-22, 10:54 AM

Could be a good excuse for ginger biscuits! I find ginger helps me with nausea.
Ok. Im behind on my assessments and, because its government funded, I can only have a couple of days leeway. So, regardless of how im feeling, I have to crack on and get it done…
Jaquaia
21-10-22, 02:03 PM
You can do it. (panda)
You will be able to do it love, just maybe little and often rather than a long stint? Ginger is meant to be good as Jaq has said, worth a go?
The nausea isn’t too bad this morning (yay) but my headache was mind blowing last night - easier today so hopefully that’s the worst over (yeah right lol). We’ve got friends for dinner tonight so some housework needs to be done, and then is back to the assessment this afternoon. I know I can do it, it’s to what quality itms?
I understand that, but you are your harshest critic and you are never going to be happy with what you submit....
Re the headache - is it easier today?
No, you’re right about that.
Headaches is better, but I’ve developed the shakes. Withdrawal - the gift that keeps on giving ;)
I hate withdrawal... I wish I could make it easier for you. Could you drop in smaller amounts?
No, that’s not an option apparently. But, thank God, it seems to have passed. I’ve never had it pass this quickly so I’m a little 8n shock lol
Just work with it love keep pacing and resting when you can...
I forgot to mention yesterday. My aunt’s (swear) ex has (at the very last minute - manipulative (swear)) has changed his plea to guilty! Which means she doesn’t have to testify - which she was terrified about. We’re just praying he gets a long sentence. On that note, did you know that 1 month on remand equals 2 months taken off your sentence???
Jaquaia
26-10-22, 10:22 AM
That's ridiculous!!!!
Yep… she’s really worried he’ll get out straight away for time served

I'm so glad that he's changed his plea. About time.
That's horrific about the sentence. So much for justice. I hope he goes down for a very, very long time.
So, having bust a gut to get this in on time, this is my tutors response to my first assessment. Can’t lie, I might have shed a few tears
‘I just wanted to let you know that I marked your first submission for the above course, and I understand that you felt you needed more time to submit work of good quality. Well, I'd like to say that your work was excellent, and I greatly admire the effort that must have gone into getting this unit in on time for marking. I really appreciated your responses to the questions, which were well-researched and, at times, heartfelt. I eagerly await your next submission with such high-quality work.’
Wow! That's amazing!! Totally expected from us though..

Oh wow! Are you the teacher's pet by any chance? (rofl)
So, I’ve had a crap couple of hours. Had my covid booster then popped into sainsburys. I was doing smart shop so had a couple of bags in my arms which meant, when trying to get something from higher shelves, I had to put the bags down to be able to balance. By the time I had picked the item up, scanned it and put it into a bag, my handbag had disappeared….. after a meltdown, CCTV, a manager, a security guard, it was found - on a rail nowhere near where I was. So, either someone picked it up by mistake and just left it there (why would you not hand it in to customer services?? Or someone took it to photograph my cards…..

Yeah, I’m calmer now but it was tough
Oh love, that's really shit. Have you cancelled cards etc?
Yep. All done, mainly by Jess, bless her. She came to get me and really looked after me
That's really lovely of her. I'm so glad that she was there for you.
How are you doing today? Are you resting? After a panic you know as well as I do that you need to rest and to recharge from the anxiety hangover.
Yeah, going to do some study but not pushing myself today

Hmmm might have overdone it. My work at the hospital starts again on Monday and we wer up there today getting rid of (mainly) an unbelievable amount of booklets and leaflets that, after 2.5 years, are all out of date. A wall of storage boxes needed going through. I came home, slept for 2 hours, and now am wrapped up in heated pads…..
Jaquaia
10-11-22, 07:16 PM
Resting tomorrow?
You? Overdoing things? There was any danger of you not?
Hope todays resting and pacing goes OK...
How did your day of pacing/resting go?
I rested a lot this morning, did a couple of hours of study, then watched tv. I’ve actually spent most of this evening watching PS I love you, so now I’ve got tear streaks down my face and a very snotty nose…..
I've not seen it, I've read the book though... I'm glad you're pacing and resting love. What's on your agenda this weekend?
Some cross stitch. Christmas shopping. Pottering ;)
First day back at work today after 2.5 years! Not nervous, at all lol
You've got this. What time are you working from and to? Will you rest tonight?
10-1, and I suspect I’ll be sleeping most of the afternoon…
Jaquaia
14-11-22, 12:35 PM
You'll nail it because you're you. If you need a nap, then do it. Pacing ;)
IT didn’t get their backsides into gear so we didn’t have any computers and couldn’t open lol. But it did mean I could get in with some of the other stuff I do for the department. So it was kind of a ‘light’ shift which, I think, helped me get into the swing of things without the punters itms
That's awesome! So glad it went well even without IT!

Just chipping hun! So glad your shift went well and you took such a productive step, it's a wonderful journey forward.
Of course everyone is different, but I've just been through the exact same scenario so I have some understanding. Mine after a few years
Pat on the back time! (bear)

Thursday is my favourite day of the week atm. On Strictly It Takes Two, the wardrobe manager comes every week to show some of the designs and completed outfits for Saturday nights show. Because Katie doesn’t have Sky, she’s taken to coming over for dinner and to coo over the sparkly costumes, and I get her to myself for a couple of hours :)
That's awesome! What a lovely thing to do!
Hey, how are you really lovely?
You mentioned something about Jess going out a bit more - is everything OK?
I’m ok.sore, tired but what’s new? Everything’s fine with Jess. I’m glad she’s finally doing more than work, sleep, repeat ;)
You don't sound your normal sparkly self - you sure you're OK?
Yeah. I really am just exhausted all the time. And this week, I’m working tomorrow, Tuesday I have a smear test, Wednesday, bloods, Thursday hep b jab. Along with getting on with my studying. So I don’t expect to be less, tired come Friday ;)
Are you trying to do too much too fast? Where's the self care?
Today, I went out with my friend, had a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows, then watched 2 movies. This week is just bad timing with everything.
I'm so glad you did that.
Try to build in some self-care each day? Even if it's 5 or 10 minutes a day?
Damn. At work this morning and sat on a chair. Except it was wheeled, and I fell off. On my bad hip…..
Strugglingmum
21-11-22, 03:27 PM
Oh no!!! Are you ok?
OMG... Tell me you're resting?
I’m resting under a throw. I’m a bit sore….
Can you take anything to help with the pain? Have you cancelled other things for this week to give yourself time to settle?
I’m already maxed on painkillers. I’ve got a heated blanket on my back.
I’ve cancelled the smear twice already, I need to have it done. I’ve had to wait a month for the bloods so I don’t want to move that. I may move the jab, depending how I feel
I’ll be fine ;)
