    Covid-19

The impacts of this virus have been felt across the world and particularly so over the past couple of weeks. Many, many, many people globally are isolating - whether that’s as a recommended action, a lockdown or because they are seriously ill. The next few weeks and months are going to be extremely painful for all of us, and this is almost certainly going to impact on our mental health. The World Health Organisation has produced an article giving information on how to protect our mental health during this time, whether you’re a carer, parent, healthcare worker, someone in isolation or just generally coping day to day.

Remember though, that the DWD team and other members will be here to support each other. We are a community and a family, which is exactly what’s needed at times like these.

The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.

Maybe we could come up with a list of suggestions of things that people could do to help spend their time if in isolation?

    Painting?
    Drawing?
    Knitting?
    Crochet?
    Learn a language?

    Any other ideas?
Do a little of something that makes you happy every day!

I gave my mum a book to give back to me for my 40th birthday present. It was just before she fell and hurt herself and it has become very precious to me and everyone in my family very recently.

Everywhere we were planning on taking the children over Easter had closed so we're going to look at exploring the local area. Dalby Forest, Dane's Dyke Nature Reserve, North York Moors, Yorkshire Wolds, Flamborough Head, the old railway line near the village... we'll just get our monies worth out of the walking boots instead. Lots of fresh air and picnics. Start getting the garden sorted, me and A are going to make a fairie garden! Then lots of craft stuff and baking and T can do some modelling with J.

    Cross-stitch

I went out for a drive today. Didn’t know where I was going, just got to a junction and randomly chose left or right. If I saw a side road that looked interesting then I turned off. I used to love doing that when I was younger, me and a car full of mates randomly drinking til we found a pub to stop for a drink before heading home again.

Tonight I also chose to delete the FB app from my phone. There is so much misinformation going around and I’m getting increasingly frustrated about it all so have to take a break before it drives me insane.
