    Maternal mental health services

I’m not saying I’m surprised, but my youngest was 22 today and the situation then was not so different to how it is now - 22 years after I didn’t get adequate care from the maternal mental health services. More investment, more recruitment, and a higher priority put on this essential service is urgently needed.

The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.

I got very little help after my first child and it took until my son was 18 months old before I was diagnosed with PND, and I was thinking the whole time that it was “normal” to feel that way because big life change, hormones etc. However when I caught for my second child it was the total opposite, almost overkill the provide me with support due to the “risk” having a previous diagnosis.
