I get what your saying but wear masks or face visors, dont go if you any symptoms. or keep distance of at least 6 foot with a mask on just let people have some normality this year, its gone beyond stupid now. Get a test before going.

But then there is an argument that providing we put all these measures in place we should be able to live a normal life and there will be no need for lockdown. The problem is some people refused to do even that and ruin it for the rest of us

We cant go into lockdown forever it has to end somewhere, yup know a few that ruined it. But I think a few days at christmas is very much needed, mentally aswell. Families need to be able to be together at some point, we cant go back to what it was like during the first lockdown.

Here we have a daily check on numbers and deaths. Just last week, we went over 2,000 deaths from Covid. I have looked and looked but I can't find any data of how many people have died by suicide, cancer or any of the non Covid things people die from in a normal year. We are just getting Covid data.
As regards to Christmas, I would love to just have a big meet up with all my family. We need each other this year more than ever. But there are quite a few people who have major health problems. I have a brother who's had cancer, sisters who are taking methotrexate for arthritis, another brother who has diabetes, and of course my dad who has COPD. So, this year for everyone's sake I'll be staying away.

I'm desperate to see my family, but I don't want to risk carrying anything from here to them... Or to catch it from them to us.... I don't know what we're going to do yet.

Its a case of using judgement, if there are vulnerabilities then its better to stay away, but if there are no vulnerabilities and no symptoms then there should be a way having a visit, even if means isolating a few days before and after a visit and even if this is just for christmas

I'm with you Suzi I'm so undecided about Xmas should I go to sis's or not will I risk catching something or possibly them catching something from me, the more I see the news the more uncertain I am.

Mike, I have to say that you've had so little contact that actually you going to your sis's sounds like the better thing to do to help your mental health.... I'm concerned that you aren't actually having much social contact at all..

I agree with Suzi, please don’t spend Christmas Day on your own....
The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.
