Erm... I'll try! I plan on changing T's bed today. My thinking is do one bed a day rather than all on the same day like last time, then they've got fresh bedding to come back to and we get fresh bedding for when J finishes work on Wednesday. Plus our new plates have arrived today so I need to wash them! I insisted on new as I didn't want to have to keep using her castoffs. It might seem petty but they were theirs, these are ours! In fact, it's been like Christmas today! I ordered new doorstops too as the one we're using is an owl and that's her thing, not mine. So we have a plaid kitten and a fluffy penguin to choose from! And I have a new roasting tin on the way. And got a cake cooling rack delivered yesterday!

Doesn’t seem petty to me at all
The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.

Making something for a present is far better than getting something off the shelf.

I don't think it's petty! I'd want to replace everything that she'd had there! Paint every wall, change the carpets and make sure I'd bought a new door number... Out with the old and make sure that J offers everything back to her!

Our room is pretty much done, I just need bookcases. J had new bedding the day she moved out as his mum was prepared . A's room is done (and very pink!). His friend came and painted the bathroom not long after she moved out so the awful blue has gone. His mum and dad paid for the living room decorating and there's a new sofa and carpet and new curtains so the horrible pink and beige combo has gone. And they've also paid for a new kitchen and it's painted so the horrible black, white and red combo has gone. We just need tiling and flooring done after lockdown, I've bought blinds so they're up. We have a plan for the hall and downstairs loo and T needs to think about colours for his room. Downstairs is various shades of green and grey so it's very peaceful and relaxing.

His parents started things straight away as they wanted to erase every trace of her from the house so he could have a fresh start

They are awesome. I spent 40 minutes talking to J's dad on the phone last night, I get on really well with both of them. In fact, his mum has warned him that he better not upset me!!!

That does sound awesome. I truly do think you get on so well with them all because you fit right in. And they must be so happy that you are a part of that family now.

His mum commented (at an acceptable social distance) when we dropped cake off that she loves seeing how much more the children laugh now when they're with us. T rang J yesterday morning and A was with him and asked when they were coming back as she missed us both and wanted to make more cake.
