Fancy popping down and helping me with my garden? I'm sure you do know and I'd rather ask you than google - when am I meant to prune roses and how do I do such a thing without killing them?

Just back from lunch at the Old Boat House with my sister and her hubby we all had a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, I had Manchester tart, my sister had cheesecake with berries and her hubby had bread and butter pud we put the world to rights over the meal

I came home with a monkey puzzle tree my brother in law had been growing (he was growing three) plus some tulip bulbs he got off a friend in Wales.

@Suzi you can shorten rose bushes now to prevent wind rock over winter then complete the pruning in March. Floribunda (multiflora think they're called these days) only need light pruning but HT (hybrid teas) need to be pruned more severely. Prune weak shoots harder and vigorous shoots less, prune to an outside bud to keep the bush open, remove any crossing or misplaced shoots, remove any dead wood.

@Purple can you listen to the radio or watch TV to try and keep the boredom away, hope you're feeling a little better.

Mike it I take pictures, can you point me in the right direction? I don't know which kind they are as they are inherited when we moved in here!

Sounds like you had a really good time with your sister. I love that you two see each other for a regular date!

Custard club meal was a little strange, very sloppy mash, minced beef, carrots, cauli & gravy even so it was very tasty.

For yet another week there was NO CUSTARD we had a cream and jam doughnut

    Won THREE games of dominoes

No custard? Are they trying to break you of your addiction? Have you told them that it could be dangerous to go cold custardly turkey?
Lunch sounds like a "deconstructed" cottage pie! lol
