It’s the last year of my 40’s (I know, you’d never have guessed it! ;)) so I think it’d be good to do a few things out of my comfort zone. One’s already sorted (thanks Jaq!), but has anyone got any other ideas?

What boundaries are you trying to push, step out of?
Do you mean going to different places? What about something like going on a train by yourself? Cook a meal for your family? Learn a language? Go swimming?
I’ve been learning Spanish for over a year. I did start learning Polish (as my cleaner is Polish) but my tiny brain can’t cope with 2 at once lol. My family won’t let me cook - they value their lives too much, I really am that bad. But yes, to getting out and about more, maybe on my own as I can’t remember the last time I left my town on my own. Swimming might be an option…
Dealing with my fears of new places, being on my own etc
Marc was challenged by his therapist to "go out and expose himself" in towns near here. It was a huge challenge as at that point leaving the house at all - even to go to his sessions felt almost impossible... Little by little he did it. You will too. I know you will. Maybe aim for 1ce a fortnight/week and see how you go. Start small and local. Remember each inch away from the front door is a huge success!
My mum had the paramedics out to her last night, she was coughing so badly she struggled to breathe. But they’ve said the infection is gone, though her upper respiratory tract is very inflamed and she’s done some damage to her back by coughing. They’re passing details on to her GP for X-ray and blood tests. Oh, and the ECG showed a mild abnormality which an anaesthetist picked up years ago but her GP at the time said wasn’t there.
Ouch. Hope she gets better soon (panda)
There is a lot of viruses and things doing the rounds. Our systems have had a break from them for the last 3 years and because there was more visiting done over the Christmas these viruses had a chance to be spread around.
Unfortunately, these things always hit mum worse - she has asthma but she also had double pneumonia years ago and it’s left scarring on her lungs. If she gets a cough, she really gets it.. they’ve done all sort of tests but there’s not a lot that can be done
Oh no! I was hoping that she was much better... I hope she's resting properly...
She can’t do much else tbh, she’s sleeping most of the time
Mum’s seen the GP and had an ECG. She’s going to the hospital later today for a chest X-ray, has been given more antibiotics, steroids and GTN spray
Oh love, you must be so worried. Is there anything we can do to help?
Just keep telling me it’s all going to be ok. I can only cope with one poorly parent at a time, it seems…..
I totally understand that. She's being investigated and being looked after. Those are good things. Whatever will be will be and you'll get through it love.. Here for you.
I'll keep everyone in my prayers.
They'll look after her (panda)
Praying mum gets better soon. X
How's she doing love? How are you coping?
She’s had the X-ray, just waiting for results. I’m ok
You really OK?
I’m worried, but I’m ok.
You know we're here if you want to talk at all...
Well, I had a lovely day yesterday. The antique centre was lovely as ever, and I bought myself a new ring. Si and Jess hated it, but I think it’s gorgeous! Although Jess hates places like that, she came with us and that was the best present she could give me. The 5 of us had fish and chips for dinner and played a game all evening (my team won ;)). And most people donated to the birthday fundraiser I’d set up on Facebook for the kennels where we adopted our dogs from, instead of giving me presents - which meant we hit and exceeded the target. I’m chuffed to bits!
The only slight niggle in the day was that I forgot my evening meds (inc pregabalin) - I blame 2 gins and a glass of bubbly - and didn't realise til 11pm, which upset my system a little and I didn’t get to sleep til 3am…. So I’m a little tired this morning lol
So pleased you had a lovely day!
Sounds like a truly lovely, lovely day! Bugger about the meds, but at least you remembered - late is better than not...
Yay! I know I’ve just had my birthday but, as the next one is a *cough significant one, we’ve just booked to go to Cornwall with the kids for 5 nights from 2 Jan 2024! (party)
Sounds awesome! My birthday this year *may* also be a significant one but I have no idea what to do for it as we won't have been married long!
Sounds like a great plan Paula!
Jaq, book something and go, or do an experience day or something...
It certainly warrants a pamper day at the very least.
Jaq - I got your card today, thank you so much!
You're very welcome!
I’ve done too much today, I knew I was going to have to but I had no choice. And now my back is screaming. I’ve emailed my chiropractor and explained I’ve been in flare since I last saw him and asked whether it’s time to refer me on to my pain consultant.
(panda)
Is there anything that eases it even a little?
What have you done that's been too much love?
It does make sense... Are you pacing this week or busy?
Busy doing assignment
Can you pace whilst you're doing it?
I’ll have to
I’ve spoken to the chiropractor who has helped me self refer back to the advanced physio for referral on to my pain consultant, hopefully. I have to admit, it’s starting to get to me….
