Hi All
Has anyone experienced easy bruising, itching, burst blood vessels with Venlafaxine? Thank you.
Emily
No, and I've been on it for years. I suggest you need to speak to a dr. How long have you been on it?
6 weeks now. I think I will make an appointment
I did mention it to the psychiatrist and he said it should wear off but it is driving mad. Thanks for your reply x
I would see your gp as both you and Paula has said hun, it's not something that I experienced on it either, but we all react differently to medications
Yes I will do I am covered in bruises this week thanks ladies x
Emily, definitely get to the drs and get that checked out lovely.
I will call in the morning the good news is I am back at work and feeling happy x
Good to hear :)
Hunni if you can't see your GP straight away, can you please make sure you get a telephone appt?
Yes I will do I promise x
My GP sent me for urgent tests at the hospital I get the results on Friday. She was disgusted my private psychiatrist had sent me away when he knew I had these symptoms.
Well done, hunni
Thank you for urging me to go
I'm so glad that you went and that your GP is taking it seriously. xx
I'm also glad you went hun and its being taken seriously x
Hi everyone it's been a scary couple of days but I am pleased to say my bloods are fine and I have suffered a rare and severe side effect from venlafaxine. I need to taper myself off the venlafaxine and start duloxetine. Any experiences of this one?
Glad you know what it is, don't want to scare you but venlafaxine can be difficult to come off - so if you're feeling rough the next few days that's why and you can be reassured that it'll pass. I've never had duloxetine but I know a few others members have. Big hugs
Thanks Paula I feel great today so if I keep this thought in my head hopefully it will get me through the hard days.
So glad that you've been totally checked out and that you have a new plan x
I'm glad that you know now what it is hunni x
Thanks ladies me to
Wow, what a nasty reaction!
Coming off Venlafaxine can be a bit tough, depends on doses and how long you've been on it etc..... But make sure if you feel rubbish that you see a doctor.
Good luck with the Duloxetine!
The tears have already started :-(
I stayed in bed during my Venlafaxine withdrawal. I didn't attempt anything more than the absolute basics. Were you given any Valium?
No maybe I will go back to the GP on Monday I felt ok this morning now I am really crying for no reason. I have only dropped to 225mg from 300mg. Maybe it's a combination of the huge bruises and achey legs as well. I wish I could show you my bruises. Thanks Rose
Thats actually a big drop. No wonder you feel tearful! Look after yourself!
Thank you Rose
It's horrible, but normal. I sobbed on my cleaner's shoulder the last time I was going through it. And I'm tearful today going through withdrawal of another drug. Just take it easy, lovely

Hi ladies I hope everyone is great I am now on day 8 and have now dropped to 75mg. Feeling awful. I have felt fine all this week.
You've been so brave and done such a massive drop in such a short amount of time. (bear)
I was told I had to come off within ten days so I'm almost there thanks Rose
Has the reaction stopped?
Yes the bruises are now green instead of black. I have left work early due to crying spells but things will get better x

You poor thing, you are still going to work through all this? That just shows how strong you are!
I have been back for two weeks after a month off, I felt so ready to go back before the bruises appeared. But it's just another hurdle to jump over. :-)
