March 2023 General Chat
It's been a while since we had one of these, just a general chit-chat kind of thread...
For me today, the house 2 doors is having their driveway redone. This has meant kango hammering, mini digging etc almost constantly since early this morning. I'm grateful they stopped for an hour earlier, and I'm hoping that the rain has meant they have stopped for the day now!
I've an online in person lecture tonight and I'm really hoping it's going to be easier than the last one as I'm ready to curl up and nap now!
-
Ouch…..
My days been ok. Worked this morning and decided to crash and watch the documentary on the people that dug up Richard III. Interesting, if you like that sort of thing. The kids are joining us all for The Last of Us and dinner night, later :)
-
That sounds fun tonight. Not seen that series - I assume it's good?
-
Really good. And a rarity in that all five of us watch it. I’m going to miss it just for the fact we’ve had all the kids here every Monday night while it’s been running ;)
-
I have cramp which is really uncomfortable, I have to redo my proforma as it has to be quantitative date and not qualitative and I missed that in the instructions, and I should be at my writers group but feeling crap, never mind that I would have been later anyway due to messing about trying to get Moo sorted after swimming!
-
Paula, are you on the lookout for another series to do the same with? Will check out your recommendation!
Oh no Jaq! I hate it when you misread something which then means you have to redo a huge percentage. How's the cramp? Are you resting and pacing?
Today is cold, and noisy with them on day 2 of digging up the drive 2 doors down... I'm not loving the noise. Crash is on alert as there are lots of people walking past so we've shut the blind to try to help him settle.
Today I'm planning on getting some housework done - well, moving some of the stuff that's been dumped by F in the lounge, and sorting the kitchen a bit! But whether I'll get that done I'm not sure... Self care is coming first today.
-
Good to hear re self care! I’m not looking for another series - I’m leaving that up to the rest of them as anything I suggest will be shot down ;)
Jaq, how are you feeling..
-
Still have the cramp, being a woman sucks at times. Got to go do my mum's meds this morning, then driving lesson this afternoon, homework with Moo, some uni work, and I'm going to make a point of doing some crafting as I have a new flower I want to try. Have to do my mum's meds today as J sees the specialist tomorrow.
-
I'm just muddling along today. Aisling started her second work experience yesterday. She's doing it in her old national school and loves it. I wasn't sure how she would get on because she hasn't had much dealings with children younger than her. But she's actually looking at courses to become a national school teacher in college.
-
Oh wow! That’s awesome :). If she’s anything like her mum she’d be fantastic.
I’ve taken the plunge and chopped all my hair off. I’ve now got a pixie cut, for the first time in a while
-
*Sending warm heat pad hugs and chocolate to you Jaq
Woohoo Magie that's awesome! I'm so pleased she's loving it! Paula's right, if she's anything like you then she'll be amazingly brilliant!
OO what made you decide that Paula? Are you pleased with it? What does Si think?
-
I just got fed up of the bob. Si loves it - he always preferred my hair short :)
-
Thing is, you'd look gorgeous no matter what!
We had snow! Not lots and it didn't settle, but we still had it! Oh, and Marc got a call from Ben warning him that it's getting really snowy and icy in Wales and Marc is meant to be going there over the weekend... Leaving Fern and me to play here.
Today Marc and I are going to look at electric wheelchairs. I think it's time. It's something I've been struggling with, but I think it would give me more independence and the ability to do things I want to do more. For example, not all trains allow a mobility scooter, but they do allow all wheelchairs, going in and around the shops would be easier etc etc
Oh qnd it's blinking freezing here!
-
I think that’s a very good idea - they are so much more manageable.
We have proper snow - grrrrrr
-
Well, I now have a brand-new electric wheelchair! We weren't going with the intention to buy, but the person we had was so lovely, didn't make me feel stupid (or too fat which is something I've had in other shops when we were looking at a mobility scooter) and even said that we could go away and really think about it. No upselling, took loads of time so I thought it was better to get her when it was a shop that if I had a problem I could take her back and get them to look at her. Really pleased with her and as I've still not regained the feeling in my thumb it's been really difficult to use the lever controls on Tallulah. It means I can go on all trains and she's flight ready too!
But I'm amazed at how exhausted I am since the appointment! I'm also trying to justify the cost that I've spent on me... It's only been possible since my inheritance has come in and I know it's something my parents would both have seen was a good thing, but it's still the most I've spent on me.... But Marc and Hazel have both told me off for talking like that lol
-
So they should! You’re important, this’ll make a huge difference to you, and to them
-
You deserve it. You deserve to be able to go to all the theatre you want with as much independence as you can. You deserve to be able to do what you want without worrying about getting around. Marc and Hazel are right!
-
Thank you both! Marc's just going to make up something so we can use her with the hoist I have! It also means I can just get on the train to see Haz/Fern and save those spoons I need for driving thee and back... It means I can take Fern to the Tate Modern, and we can have a little wander around London - and use buses etc. It should just make it easier...
-
-
I knew you'd get it. Anyway just been out to Sainsbury's for a little tryout and she's fabulous! So much easier to use with a non-feeling thumb, didn't feel like I was in the way as much and my shoulders are so sore from rather using crutches or using my arms straighter for using Tallulah..
-
Does that mean you can accept that you were right to spend the money on yourself? ;)
-
-
-
Lol... I love you guys...
-
Oh Suzi I am so pleased for you. Sounds perfect.
Enjoy your freedom
-
-
Enjoy the freedom you now have. Does this machine have a name yet? Maybe because it's nearly saint Patrick's day, you could go for something Irish, like Sinead or Oisin.
-
Thank you! She doesn't currently have a name, but I like your thinking ;)
-
-
Lots of things to work through, I need to "meet her" properly lol (and yes I know that sounds crazy....)
-
How’s everybody doing? I’m going to be resting and doing my assignment today, though my body definitely wants me to be 100% resting! Hey ho, the things we have to do
-
Lol.. I'm going to be checking through my transcription and analysing the data for my dissertation. But my body too, would rather be 100% resting - but I did that most of yesterday!
Good luck with your study, may it be kind to you!
-
Gosh such studious plans. I'm on the sofa, watching Mafs Australia and sewing buttons on an order
-
That sounds like a brilliant way tp spend today!
-
I've had my driving lesson, going to unwind for a little while and then do some uni work. Tired today
-
I’ve finished assignment #4 - a day quicker than I thought!
-
Well done everyone!
I prescribe rest, rest and more rest tonight!
I've still got presents to wrap! Who'd have thought my baby is going to be 18 tomorrow?! Looking back at the week before Christmas, we might never have made it to this day. It's incredibly emotional.
-
Súper proud of you all, you’ve been through so much yet come back stronger
-
Thank you! I'd rather not relive it at all though!
