Hi all
An incident with my wife texting and emailing a bloke sent me over the edge if that’s the way to describe it, went 4 days without sleep 2 weeks ago, drinking red bull and coffee to keep going only ended with a collapse at work and a trip to a accident and emergency. Trip to the doctors after now told that I am suffering from severe depression, coupled with anxiety attacks. It is likely that I have been having these problems for a 12 months or more now and thinking back to incidents in the past possibly longer. God it’s a lonely experience, especially when coupled with a business that is failing, financial and now marital problems. Frightened that I am loosing my mind, filled with irrational jealousy over my wife’s behavior, I am scared that I am loosing everything including the love of my wife and children. The tears well up and I go to pieces again. Had plenty of “get a grip on yourself”advice but wow it’s a lot more deeper than that.
Pills and potions from the doctor and a 4 month wait for counseling is his recommendation. So early days yet and judging by the timing of some of the posts on this site more sleepless nights.
Look forward to talking with you all.

Hello and welcome, stick with us you'll not be lonely as more, we're as good bunch here :-)
It will take a little while for the tablets to take effect but just hang on there. I also figure that the 4 month wait for counseling seems very long but think of it that by the time that comes round round you'll be in a much better place to work through your anxieties.
Just keep talking it really does help

Hi Choope and welcome to DWD.
You have done the right thing by going to see your GP.
You are not losing your mind you have a lot going on in your life at the moment.
I felt so alone until I came to DWD then I found there were more peple out there with similar stories to tell.
The best thing you can do is keep talking. It really does help and it's also a great help to write thoughts and feelings down, it doesn't matter how you do it whether it's writing a post on here or writing them on a scrap of paper and throwing them away. it's just a way of getting them out of your head.
Keep talking no one will judge you here.
Hi and welcome to DWD. AS the others have said pull up a chair, join in the chat.
noone judges anyone here, all you will get is support and somewhere to talk. none of us are professionals, but we all have our own experiences....
keep talking...

guys thanks for the welcome
A quick question - given the 4 month wait for counselling, I am considering going private, not that I can afford it, but I am also thinking that I can't afford not to0 at the moment. Any advice please.
Thanks again

Writing it down does help, and have been doing this for a couple of days. at the moment thoughts are like a million flys buzzing around my head and I can't swat one of them.

Try a local charity, who should be able to offer subsidised councelling. Start with places such as MIND, relate etc....
guys thanks for the welcome

are you taking meds? sometimes the 4month wait actually helps as it gives the meds time to start working and for your dosage to be sorted etc....

Hi and welcome to DWD
:Hello2:i agree with what all the others have said, just hang in there and give the meds time to work,i know the charity"sane" offer councelling but i'd wait a couple of weeks for the tabs to kick in.

Pills possibly kicking in, been them for 9 days now, but there is no quick fix I guess. Sleep is the biggest thing for me or lack of it at the moment, I suppose I am just wishing that everything could be fixed quickly, and I guess that it is just not the case.
sorry choope, but they generally take up to 2 weeks to get into your system properly. dont go for anything that promises a quick fix, the one thing that i have noticed and experienced is that the "quick fixes" arent fixes at all!!!
do some more exercise, talk more, and take your meds at about the same time every day coz that will help too...

Hi all
Well meds kicked in after doctor doubled the dose for me, and have signed of for a 6 week course with a Counsellor and we are going the Transactional Analysis Route, seemingly good thereapy but not quite sure how this will end up - probably end up blaming my parents for missing my school play or something like that. But things are calming down a bit at the moment.
Take care all
