• Welcome to Dealing with Depression

Welcome to the Dealing with Depression forum.

Here on Dealing with depression (DWD) we understand how life can be. We all have our own experiences and dealings with depression and other mental health illness. No one here will tell you to "pull yourself together" or ask, "what have you got to be depressed about?"
We know that it's not that easy and there's not always a visible issue affecting our mental health. There are so many things and there are so many reasons.

Depression and mental health illness do not mean that you are "weak" or that you are "crazy." Through my experiences of being on DWD I know that mostly it means that you have been trying to be too strong for too long. You don't have to be alone anymore. We aren't medical or mental health professionals and we don't have any magic answers, but we all have our own understandings of how you are feeling - either through ourselves or a loved one.

Dealing with Depression is free to use for anyone all over the world.

We do have some rules which are clearly listed and explained in this thread:
Forum rules as per 27th March 2017

    but remember:

    • We cannot and will never try to replace a qualified medical team.

    • We cannot and never will offer 1:1 support - if you need that then please call the Samaritans/CALM/Lifeline or dial 999 (or your local emergency services number) for emergency help.

Apparently 1 in 4 people will experience depression or mental health illness in their lives. With long waits for secondary medical healthcare more and more people turning to the internet for support.
Dealing with depression has now been running for over 10 years and has a facebook page supporting over 90,000 people which can be found HERE.
We aim to be the friendliest and most supportive forum for those with mental health illness and their friends and families. Come on in and have a look around.
