I can name most of them especially the 2 beano characters Dennis the Menace and Minnie the Minx I used to collect the beano for years, now its been given to someones son whos parents don't have much money as it was just kept in a box in the loft and worth nothing.

HE is fab, but can you link via photobucket or something please. I will be removing the attachments tomorrow to give you chance to do so.

SuperInferior
09-03-12, 11:37 PM
=[ I don't have a photobucket. I might make one later and edit the posts though. Is there any reason you're moving them? I did put up a lot... So sorry if you're not supposed to!

Aspasia
09-03-12, 11:50 PM
Photobucket is free and pretty easy to set up SI, but if you have any problems you can email me the pics if you like and I'll add them to mine. You can PM me for my email address if you like. We can't host pics on the forum because it eats up the [something technical I don't understand] and it costs too much money [or something else technically like that!]

Suzi
10-03-12, 12:04 AM
Lol, yes it eats up our data allowance and I don't want to have to charge anyone, so no attachments. There is a post about it in the forum updates though.

I'm going to remove them tomorrow so you know which ones you want to put up. Photobucket or similar are free and very easy to use though, hence why we have this option. It's the same as it was on the old forum - we didn't allow attachments there either ;)

SuperInferior
10-03-12, 12:45 AM
oh ok then I don't mind them going any time, I'll just create an account or something and post links later. ^_^
Thanks for the heads up.

I could probably do that. It's not terribly different to the google translation, but I can make it more clear as it mixes up some words and meanings. =3

I could put them into my previous posts but I can't edit them? 0.0

So I'll put them here. Feel free to remove all of them, as advised I made a photo bucket account, so now I can also share the Pencil Case I made yesterday too.

Oh I think I cracked it!
http://s1159.photobucket.com/albums/p628/SuperInferior/Crochet/ That is my album for my crocheted things, so includes;
Moomin toy for my Psychologist,
Headband for my Mother,
Purse for my Sister,
and Cowl for me.

http://s1159.photobucket.com/albums/p628/SuperInferior/Sewing/
My photobucket for my sewing, including;
My pillow,
and my Pencil case.

Those last too were hard because I hand sewed them, but they look machine sewed because I sew very small, so I think I'm improving. ^_^

Oh thanks for that. ^_^ Aha, I'm not good with computers... :P

And thank you. ^_^ I agree with veggie that there is a lot of talent in here, it's very inspiring. It makes you want to do more yourself.

I'm doing some cross stitch for the first time today too.
And I'm picking up some wool and a sewing machine tomorrow (all being well) from some freecyclers! I do encourage others to look into putting or trying to snag some freebies on sites like freecycle, especially when it comes to crafts, where some of the materials might be pricey. =3

I finished my rag rug finally. I'll put some pictures on photobucket when I've flattened it out and link it here. =]

I might continue the plastic bag (plarn) rug I started in December! >_<

I also took the doors off of my wardrobe to get more space and just added in some scarves over a hand made scarf rail, to be like a mix between a string curtain and doorway type cover. It looks very hippyish, which suits my rug, string curtains, and futon with all my incense sticks. XD

I'm linking my blog on here (http://www.dealingwithdepression.co.uk/entry.php?18-Moomin-Pattern) so you can find a slightly better translation for the moomin pattern. I had forgotten how much I used to benefit from xStitch.
I was encouraged to take it up while in a nursing home recovering from an accident.
I find it helps to relax me, time to get it all out and start relaxing again. (nod)

Ian.

Wow those are awesome!
I want to do some of those too, but I don't think I'm good enough to try the big ones yet. >_<
I have two tiny free ones from a mag. I saw the prices for really big pictures and don't think I'd want to waste the money in the early stages of learning but they look so beautiful!
How long have you been doing that?
I really like the first one. =3

Thank You. I started in 1990, and have not done any for a few years now.
I don't buy the kits as they are too expensive, I buy the patterns and everything seperate that way I can spread the cost and quite often I already have most of the threads I need anyway.

I think I might do that, as I might want to alter the colours.
I like things in negative, and psychedelic colours. It'd be cool to alter a picture with your thread for either of those effects. Or even a sepia tint but that might be very difficult.
I've never seen the back thing on its own though. =/
Do you do it on a cloth or with those squared materials? >_< I don't know the terms. But I know my aunty and her daughters used to do it a lot and they just did it on plain cloth with a pattern which looks really hard. I'd probably not do the x's the same size at this level. lol
But I've not seen the square material thing plain and for sale. o.o

I'd be interested to see how much sense I just made with that. haha

IanTM
11-05-12, 03:45 AM
Hi SuperInferior,

That's one of the good things of not using kits, you can make changes, not just colour of threads, but cloth as well and the finished size of the the whole thing. With regards the sepia tint, you could start with a sepia coloured cloth and then using the right shades of thread it could be done, I think you would need a lot of patience though to get the shades right. You can get the cloth on its own, I tend to buy most of my stuff online, as it tends to be cheaper, I use the squared materials as it gives the best results, I have done some xstitch on plain cloth, I did some cartoon characters and the childrens names on t-shirts, hard work but the end result worked well.

Ian.

Beautiful X stitch Ian. You must have the patience of a saint to work on black though as I always found that played havoc with my eyes. What count aida do you use? I can't use anything smaller than a 16 count these days unless I have specs, magnifying glass and very good light!

I tend to use 14 count, I have a lamp with a daylight bulb makes a big difference. I need glasses for distance so don't have a problem with that. I struggled a bit with the metalics though.

I Love knitting too, but I have no idea how to share my creations with everybody. I mainly do socks, but mittens, beanies, scarves, sweaters, cardigans and anything I can come up with are "on the menu". I love how the yarn flows through my fingers and take away the pain creating something. Sometimes beautiful, sometimes not so much... But knitting and drawing are my most effective ways of calm down, and sort of rebooting my mind. It kicks me out of the spiraling pain and urge to hurt myself. Hope others find ways as effective to then as these are to me. I loved all the pictures I could see.

There are several ways of sharing photos - you can do it using an image hosting service or facebook image sharing.
