Hi Guys, My names Mike and im new to this site, i just wanted to come where people understand because i feel really low and depressed and its kinda ruining my life, its hard for people around me too understand and some of them keep saying that im not depressed and that makes everything worse.
I have good days and bad days like most people on here but i can never sleep which is the worst thing because that always starts the day off bad and gets me down. I also constantly feel like im letting people down and im not good enough. i just want to feel happy again but its really hard to find something to smile about.
I just want to talk to people that are in the same boat that can help me, and understand me.
Please Please help me :(
Welcome to DWD Mike.
Have you seen your doctor at all, lack of sleep wont help and there are a few of us here that have the same problem.

Welcome Mike. Well done for going to the doctors, thats a big step. Yes its hard to acknowledge you are depressed but coming to terms with it has helped me to feel a bit better. I'm not so hard on myself anymore and the more I read about it the more hope I have that I will continue to get better. Give the antidepressants time to work and keep talking.
Mike well done for going to the doctors that's a really positive step in you getting better, so is counseling.
I was diagnosed last year but if am honest its been a lot longer than that when I first started to get depression.
Lack of sleep is horrible I have massive problems sleeping myself.
Try and keep a routine in the evenings, try and relax, cut out caffeine and cigarettes if you smoke, a warm relaxing bath, and make sure your bedroom is relaxing it will all help.
Excersise is also a good way of tiring you out to sleep better and will go towards lifting your mood

Thanks Guys, You all really help and thanks for the advice. Its much appreciated. I'm still kind of coming to trems with being depressed to be honest and its really hard and I'm dreadin the councilling, is it hard? Have any of you been to councilling? How long do the anti depressants take to work? Sorry for all the questions. I'm sorry to hear that you have been suffering for years angie, I suffered with depression about 4 years ago but I thought I got rid of it. Thanks for helping me guys.
The anti depressants could take upto 4- 6 weeks to start to work hun so bear with them. I'm waiting on counceling now and no dont think it will be easy for me but its something that will help
It's very much dependent on which anti d you are on as to how long it takes to work, some take longer than others. The general rule of thumb is that if you are having side effects then those shuld wear off by 2 weeks. After that then go back and see your dr...
Welcome to DWD

Hiys Suzi, Thanks. Is councilling a one to one or group thing? Is it scary? How long is each session? Do you think it helps? Thanks for helping me suzi, I really appreciate it x
Its 3D programmes such as daz studio, bryce, poser, vue etc plus paintshop pro the girl in the sig at the bottom of my posts is one of the things I do, others are landscapes etc
Hiya Mike and welcome to DWD, i've suffered with depression for a number of years too and i've had councelling. My first lot of councelling was a while back and lasted on and off for 5yrs, i had a brilliant councillor and she really helped me then 18months ago i had a breakdown and had more councelling which wasn't successful,i didn't think the councellor helped me at all....so i guess what i'm saying is that success with councelling depends on the councellor.
If you have a councellor you are not keen on you are within your rights to change them.
Well done for going to your gp,it takes courage to ask for help, just take each day a tiny step at a time and do keep posting it really helps.
This place has been my life-line along with my family and i have met some fantastic people here.
I hope you find it to be a healing and peaceful place to be.(bear)

Hiya, veggie, thanks for welcoming me and I'm sorry to hear that you have been suffering for years. Thanks for the info, it really helps. I didn't think a site like this would help as I never let people know how I feel but I've learned that keeping it to urself doesn't help and this site and the people all seem to help and seem really nice. I will keep posting. Thanks veggie
Your very welcome hun, there is so much support here, i've learnt to be much more open with my feelings and emotions since being here.(bear)

Aw well that's great Veggie, I'm glad your not sufferin in silence and I hope we can help each other :). Do you have good and bad days veggie? Or do you feel depressed every moment?
Hiys Suzi, Thanks. Is councilling a one to one or group thing? Is it scary? How long is each session? Do you think it helps? Thanks for helping me suzi, I really appreciate it x
It can be either group or one to one, but at your initial assessment you should be told. I've had both.
Is it scary? Yes, I think it's always scary when you don't know who it is you are going to be talking to and delving into the most private, secretive and horrible things from your past.
Each session for me was about an hour.
Yes it helps. But you have to be prepared to put the work in. IT's not easy by any stretch of the imagination, and you might need more than one course or type of therapy but for me it was a life saver..

Okays, thanks a lot Suzi. Cant believe how much people are helping on here. i feel very low and sad every day but to know you are all here to help makes things feel easier, thanks a lot.. x
Glad we could help.
I think it's because we have all been there or been with someone who has been there so we understand and we dont judge!
Mikenewbold88

Its nice that people don't judge suzi, I always feel like people are judging me. So I'm glad no one judges me on here. What does wss mean angie? Sorry I don't know what it means x

Today is proving to be a struggle, I just don't seem to be able to smile about anything. I feel really low :( Sorry to moan at you guys :(
Just focus on the small things hun, make sure you eat something, try to get out for some fresh air and exercise, it will help life your mood by increasing the seratonin levels.
A belated welcome from me
