I have an interview at a veterinary centre tomorrow afternoon and I've no idea what to even wear. Any help appreciated! I think getting myself back to a job I enjoy will really help me.

If in doubt go smart casual - nice trousers or skirt and a top?
Good luck!

Remember you are interviewing them as much as them interviewing you!

I don't want to jinx it but I think it went well. They gave the me a tour of the place and were speaking like I already had the job "this is where you'll do this" "this is where you'll do that" etc they said they'll let me know by the 30th, as they still had other interviews to conduct

Thank you guys! Having one of "those" days today. I don't know what's going in. For some reason, even though this is what I've wanted for a whole, I keep trying to talk myself out if it. Don't understand why I'm doing it

Suzi
23-09-22, 12:53 PM
What is it that you don't understand why you are doing what love?

Pixie85

Thank you guys. I've just got out....I think it went OK, but I guess you never really know. I did OK with questions but I don't think they liked it when I said that although I was interviewing for receptionist role, I would like to do some nursing too.....they said they would want me as a receptionist for a year before offering up any nursing work. It'll be 11 hour days....with a day and a half off in week, so I wouldn't need to worry about leaving therapist. It's just it would require a lot of help from little ones dad and he doesn't even want me to work! They said they'll let me know by end of week, as they still have more interviews to do.....but they shown me round, it was fairly relaxed once I got in there.

Suzi

What happens if he doesn't want to stand up to help with childcare?

Pixie85
15-03-23, 12:41 PM
I'm not sure. My friend has said she will help, where she can but obviously she has 3 kids too. Just see what happens, they might not even offer it to me

Suzi
15-03-23, 01:42 PM
11 hour days? Those are really long days especially with 1 1/2 days off - can you do those hours with your little ones? Would you have the same days off each week?

Pixie85
15-03-23, 01:54 PM
Long days yeh, but I think It's doable, if their dad will help. It'll be the same days off, yeh

Paula
15-03-23, 02:37 PM
It might work with the kids, but would it work for you? Truly?

Pixie85
15-03-23, 02:38 PM
It's more hours than I thought. I thought it would work in shifts, so I don't even know. I'd give it a try though

Suzi
15-03-23, 09:47 PM
Might be worth checking?

Had the most amazing interview at an emergency veterinary hospital this afternoon. I was there an hour whilst we chatted/had a tour of the animal hospital. BUT I don't think the hours will suit and I'm gutted!! The hours will be week and half of 8.30am-7pm, week of 3pm-11pm or 11pm-8am. Its an emergency animal hospital, hence the need for 24 hour nurses....and I would LOVE it! But I don't think it's doable 😔 I've been offered another interview at a dog rehoming centre, not sure when....going to have to ring them because I'll be in Portugal on the 2 dates they offered....I'd still enjoy it as its still working with animals and its much closer to home....it's just the thing of it being a job I'd like rather than the other, which would be a job I love....if that even makes sense

Paula

Well done on getting the interviews! You should be really proud of yourself :). It does seem like those hours might be a challenge with two little ones, for now anyway. Working at a dog rehiring centre, though, sounds wonderful!
