Kind of feeling lost now I've finished uni. So much of the last 4 years has revolved around studying. I feel at so much of a loose end that I've emptied A's bedroom ready for painting! I know, I know. Pacing. I'm already in trouble with J as I didn't ask for help!

Paula
10-06-21, 04:52 PM
I’m not surprised but…. Haven’t you got a rather large ‘books to read’ pile?

Jaquaia
10-06-21, 05:30 PM
I have but I know there's so much that needs doing that I'm struggling to just sit. So I've decided that tonight I'm going to hoover A's room and wash down the paintwork, and rather than start painting like I'd intended, I'm going to sit and read and only move to top up my drink!

Stella180
10-06-21, 05:56 PM
Wait what? You intend to be drinking plenty? Who are you and what have you done with our Jaq?

Suzi
10-06-21, 06:56 PM
I'm not going to give you the pacing lecture, but please, please be careful...

Wait what? You intend to be drinking plenty? Who are you and what have you done with our Jaq?
It's hot and I'm thirsty!

I'm not going to give you the pacing lecture, but please, please be careful...

I'm sat reading in the garden!

Stella180
10-06-21, 08:32 PM
Yay, sat down didn’t what you love. Enjoy.

Suzi
10-06-21, 09:33 PM
I love that you're sitting, reading in the garden!

Jaquaia
19-06-21, 06:05 PM
I may have overdone it again but if it makes J smile it's worth it.

The weather is supposed to be terrible tomorrow so I thought since it's Father's Day and they've mostly been terrible for him so far, I'd make him an afternoon tea with the kids! So made pizza bread, cheese scones, chocolate scones, chocolate concrete and flapjack and currently making breadcakes for bacon sandwiches for breakfast. Also done the washing while it was dry and I could get it on the line and decided to clean the kitchen. I hurt now so I am going to rest as much as possible.

Stella180
19-06-21, 06:37 PM
I’m knackered just reading that. You better be bloody resting madam!

Jaquaia
19-06-21, 06:40 PM
I hurt when I move so no choice really!

Stella180
19-06-21, 06:52 PM
I know that feeling today

Paula
19-06-21, 07:31 PM
That was a lovely thing to do :)

Suzi
19-06-21, 10:28 PM
Such a great thing to do to totally spoil him! Did the kids help?

Jaquaia
19-06-21, 10:43 PM
J picked them up on his way home so no, but they're going to help me sort it tomorrow, they just don't know it yet!

And T massively impressed me with how well he took some of his locos being damaged when the cupboard collapsed. He was very mature about it and both kids made sure J was ok.

Suzi
20-06-21, 10:09 AM
That's awesome that he was that thoughtful for something that means so much to him and his Dad...

Jaquaia
22-06-21, 09:54 PM
I kerbed my instructors car while doing a forward parallel park. I left my comfort zone then started making mistakes as my anxiety levels started climbing. It's utterly ridiculous. Turn in the road in my comfort zone? Easy! Bog-standard driving forwards out of my comfort zone though and it starts going tits up, and the most annoying thing is I know I can do it!

Oh and this time in 4 weeks I'll have a good idea of what class degree I've earned so can feel my nerves climbing too...

Stella180
22-06-21, 10:02 PM
First?

Suzi
22-06-21, 10:21 PM
Oh lovely! You're going to be fab on both of those counts...

Jaquaia
22-06-21, 10:32 PM
First?

It would be nice but I'd be more than happy with a 2:1. There is a chance though.

Oh lovely! You're going to be fab on both of those counts...

I hope so. My anxiety is ridiculous at times!

Paula
23-06-21, 12:01 AM
Hey, I regularly kerb my car - and I’ve been driving since 1992! I’ve also managed to stall it, despite it supposedly being impossible to stall an automatic.

I suspect it’s not the first time your instructor has seen that happen. It’s normal. So you’re not perfect, but if that’s the first time you’ve kerbed it, you’re pretty damn close!

Suzi
23-06-21, 07:58 AM
How are you today?

Jaquaia
23-06-21, 08:42 AM

Second so not doing too badly! And I know I need to get out of my comfort zone so I can pass my test, so it's positive really.

How are you today?

Tired but going to take it easy. Going to slap some paint around in the garden today I think!

Suzi
23-06-21, 08:47 AM
What'cha painting in the garden? What colours?

Jaquaia
23-06-21, 08:54 AM
Finishing off the outside of the playhouse so we can move it, so purple! Need to paint the decking it's going on too, which a a very dark grey. And depending on time, the inside is pink!

Suzi
23-06-21, 10:44 AM
Wow sounds lovely! Can't wait to see finished pics! Please though, don't overdo it!

Jaquaia
23-06-21, 11:14 AM
I have to pace as I have baking to do for T's half birthday

Suzi
23-06-21, 12:51 PM
Could you ask for help?

Jaquaia
23-06-21, 01:03 PM
Not really. J is on nights so will be sleeping until late afternoon tomorrow, then we have the kids, then he has his Covid briefing at the museum on Friday. I am buying sausage rolls and that though. I've learnt my lesson! All done painting now anyway, just need to decide if I want to read or do something crafty!

Stella180
23-06-21, 01:21 PM
Of course you want to read

Jaquaia
23-06-21, 02:44 PM
I'm actually struggling to concentrate for any length of time!

Suzi
23-06-21, 03:43 PM
I'm glad you are at least buying some of the food!

Jaquaia
23-06-21, 06:34 PM
I'm going to make cake and sweet stuff tomorrow, then savoury stuff and decorate the cake Friday. And hopefully that should give me the afternoon to myself on Friday. We've done the shopping and I forgot stuff to decorate the cake so may need to pay a visit to the village shop!

Tonight I've been told to rest. I started hurting while shopping so J has said I'm to sit and do something for me. I mean he's not here so he wouldn't know but I've hit a wall and need to learn to work with that. It's annoying because I don't always know what my limits will be, some days I can do loads and be absolutely fine, other days the basics are a struggle. I was absolutely fine in the car into Beverley but not so much now. Got to love autoimmune diseases....

Suzi
23-06-21, 08:01 PM
I sympathise.... It sucks. Please do rest love, you are hurting for a reason. Stop. Rest. Read/craft or watch a movie (or the football)...

Jaquaia
23-06-21, 08:38 PM
I'm actually sat doing a diamond picture that J got me for Christmas. Struggling to settle though.

Suzi
23-06-21, 09:16 PM
I'm glad you're doing something for you love...

Jaquaia
24-06-21, 12:13 PM
Well that's my baking list cut down! I forgot to buy oats so no flapjack, and I forgot to buy chocolate spread so no chocolate scones!

Suzi
24-06-21, 12:17 PM
Good! I think that might be a good thing....

Flo
24-06-21, 12:39 PM
I make flapjacks for the shop...people buy them and like them but I won't touch them. About 1000% sugar....enough to have you bouncing off the walls! The choc scones sound intriguing though.

Jaquaia
24-06-21, 12:58 PM
They're quite nice Flo! I just need to try a few other recipes as I thought they were tasty but a bit dry.

Jaquaia
10-07-21, 01:48 PM
J had to come home from work last night as he was throwing up so I've paid for a day pass on Now TV so he can watch the cricket as it will keep him on the sofa and resting!

Stella180
10-07-21, 02:35 PM
Awwww, that’s good of you. He does love his cricket bless him. Does this mean you get to watch the football tomorrow night? Biggest game for England since 1966.

Jaquaia
10-07-21, 02:55 PM
He's a sports fan in general so he's happy to watch it!

Suzi
10-07-21, 03:42 PM
Oh no! Hope it's not a horrid bug you all catch! Hope he gets well soon!

Jaquaia
10-07-21, 04:04 PM
He fell asleep halfway through the innings so I've just left him to sleep. It's probably the best thing for him.

Stella180
10-07-21, 05:41 PM
Yeah cricket will do that to you. My Dad used to like watching cricket and snored through most of it lol

Suzi
10-07-21, 09:39 PM
Eww cricket! Hope the sleep has helped...

Jaquaia
10-07-21, 09:51 PM
He loves it. He used to play and coach. He captained one of the village teams at one point but Cruella pressured him to quit.

He's still not feeling great, not managed to eat anything other than toast really and is still feeling sick. He will rest, even if I have to sit on his knee all day tomorrow to make him!

Paula
10-07-21, 09:54 PM
Could he get 8nto coaching or something?

Suzi
10-07-21, 09:58 PM
If it's something he loves, then what about playing again or coaching? Does Thomas play?

Jaquaia
11-07-21, 12:25 PM
I try and encourage him to get into it again but his self-esteem just isn't there at the moment. Thomas doesn't play but Abbie wants to!

Paula
11-07-21, 12:32 PM
Then maybe he should get her into a team and get involved with it, as her dad?

Suzi
11-07-21, 07:38 PM
Exactly! Encourage it! :)

Jaquaia
11-07-21, 07:56 PM
The issue is her mother. Chances are she won't take her to cricket coaching which means she misses 2 in every 4. Plus on top of swimming and dancing it may be a bit much at the moment.

Paula
11-07-21, 08:25 PM
He could always pick her up for cricket and drop her back after. But yes, I agree adding another one to her diary might be a struggle for her

Jaquaia
11-07-21, 08:38 PM
Those 2 he'd be at work so couldn't

Paula
11-07-21, 08:51 PM
Ah, fair enough

Suzi
11-07-21, 08:59 PM
That's a shame, although nothing stopping you guys from having a knock about at home/on the green?

Jaquaia
11-07-21, 09:59 PM
He's going to teach her some over summer.

Suzi
12-07-21, 08:54 AM
That sounds like a great idea!

Jaquaia
14-07-21, 01:03 PM
6 sleeps and my module results are released....

Totally calm about it, utterly and completely calm...

Suzi
14-07-21, 01:07 PM
Lol, so not calm....
Ben had his year 2 results on Monday, we've got to wait until August for Ferns... Waiting sucks.

Jaquaia
19-07-21, 05:28 PM
Results have been released...

Distinction in both modules!!!! Still waiting to find out officially but I think I've got a First!!!

Paula
19-07-21, 05:38 PM

Stella180
19-07-21, 06:52 PM

Suzi
20-07-21, 02:35 PM
I'm so proud of you! That's absolutely amazing!!!! Well done gorgeous!

Jaquaia
20-07-21, 06:59 PM
Thank you!

I'm not sure it's sunk in yet!

Allalone
21-07-21, 12:13 AM
Congratulations!

Suzi
21-07-21, 12:08 PM
So, I hope you celebrated last night?

Jaquaia
21-07-21, 12:13 PM
Not really, I sat and read my book, indoors despite outside being cooler, as the cat came and sat with me and I would have felt rude to leave him alone! (giggle)

Suzi
21-07-21, 12:51 PM
What? You haven't celebrated? You got a FIRST! That deserves celebrating!

Stella180
21-07-21, 02:20 PM
Oh that “little something” you were getting. This stupid cow sent it here instead of your address so I’ll have to bring it when I come up.

Jaquaia
21-07-21, 02:41 PM
What? You haven't celebrated? You got a FIRST! That deserves celebrating!

We might be going to the pub tonight though at the moment, I can't be bothered to do anything!

Oh that “little something” you were getting. This stupid cow sent it here instead of your address so I’ll have to bring it when I come up.
That sounds like something I would do!!

Suzi
21-07-21, 03:44 PM
Definitely go to the pub! Or get a bottle of bubbly stuff in to enjoy together!

Jaquaia
13-09-21, 12:32 PM
My degree certificate has arrived! (party)

Paula
13-09-21, 12:45 PM
You’re certified!!!

Jaquaia
13-09-21, 01:05 PM
I am certified!!!

I am now Jaq BSc (Hons) Psych Coun (Open), BA (Hons)

Y'know, because the OU can't make it simple like brick unis...

Paula
13-09-21, 03:38 PM
(rofl)

Oh and you should get business cards!

Suzi
13-09-21, 06:40 PM
That's awesome! Congratulations lovely!

Allalone
13-09-21, 08:49 PM
Congrats Jaq!

OldMike
16-09-21, 10:51 AM
I am certified!!!

I am now Jaq BSc (Hons) Psych Coun (Open), BA (Hons)

Y'know, because the OU can't make it simple like brick unis...

Woo hoo it's nice to be certified, BSc (Hons) Psych Coun (Open), BA (Hons) now that's a mouthful you'll need new letterheads printed ;)

Jaquaia
16-09-21, 11:28 AM
Give me 3 years Mike and I'll be adding MSc MHS (Open) to that lot!

Suzi
16-09-21, 04:29 PM
Go you!

Jaquaia
21-10-21, 06:33 PM
Had confirmation of my counselling level 2! I start it 2 weeks before my MSc, you know, because one on its own wasn't enough!

Stella180
21-10-21, 08:43 PM
You’ll get through it cos you’re freaking awesome

Jaquaia
21-10-21, 09:01 PM
Still need to buy my set texts! About £110 there for 2 books!

Stella180
21-10-21, 09:05 PM
Wow that’s silly money.

Paula
21-10-21, 09:20 PM
Any way of getting hold of second hand books?

Jaquaia
21-10-21, 09:22 PM
Even second hand, we're talking not far off the same amount of money.

Suzi
21-10-21, 11:16 PM
Do you not have ebooks? If you let me know which ones they are I can see if I can get them through my library account at uni ;)

Jaquaia
22-10-21, 07:47 AM
I can get Psychology, Mental Health and Distress by Cromby, Harper and Reavey through the OU Library. They don't have Physiology of Behaviour by Carlson and Birkett.

Suzi
22-10-21, 12:01 PM
I'll have a look for you when I get in ;)

Jaquaia
22-10-21, 12:15 PM
Thank you!

Flo
22-10-21, 05:30 PM
I've been having a little look for that book you want....they have secondhand ones on Amazon and various secondhand book stores but the cheapest I can find is about £45! They aren't cheap are they??

Jaquaia
22-10-21, 05:54 PM
Academic textbooks never are Flo! We're so lucky with undergrad courses at the OU!

Suzi
22-10-21, 06:19 PM
Sorry lovely, it's not in our library either!

Flo
23-10-21, 11:30 AM
Is this term the first time that this book has been in operation or has it been used for your course for years? Just thinking that maybe someone has one and no longer needs it which might be languishing and gathering dust in their attic or something.

Jaquaia
23-10-21, 11:50 AM
It's used for all 3 years of the course so money wise it would be worth it, it's just the initial outlay.

Suzi
23-10-21, 06:06 PM
It's shocking how much they cost though! Ben's spent I have no idea how much on books for law!

Jaquaia
07-12-21, 09:54 AM
It's graduation ceremony booking day! Fingers crossed I can get a place, otherwise I have to wait until autumn!

Suzi
07-12-21, 12:33 PM
YAY!! Have you booked it???

Jaquaia
07-12-21, 03:12 PM
21st May next year in Harrogate!

Stella180
07-12-21, 03:31 PM
Cool, wish I could be there.

Strugglingmum
07-12-21, 06:40 PM
That's wonderful Jaq well done

Suzi
07-12-21, 09:09 PM
That's SO AWESOME!!!

Allalone
07-12-21, 09:32 PM
That’s fantastic! Well done!

Jaquaia
16-12-21, 11:49 AM
Flu jab done and dusted! Got there late as J's dad thought it was later and by half 9 still hadn't collected me! My appointment was at quarter to 10... Still, it's done now.

OldMike
16-12-21, 02:23 PM
Good had mine a few weeks ago.

magie06
16-12-21, 02:48 PM
How is your arm?

Jaquaia
16-12-21, 03:16 PM
It's sore but I was expecting it to be.

Suzi
16-12-21, 03:58 PM
I thought the flu jab this year was really painful!

magie06
16-12-21, 08:53 PM
Me too. I had a sore arm after mine.

Jaquaia
18-12-21, 01:34 PM
My arm is still really painful, even J or the kids catching it really lightly hurts.

magie06
18-12-21, 05:01 PM
Has it swollen or gone red? I was advised to see a doctor if it happens again.

Jaquaia
18-12-21, 05:29 PM
A little. I've always been told it's normal!

Flo
18-12-21, 07:10 PM
When I had my flu jab this year it was red, swollen, hot and painful like yours, then after about 5-6 days it was so itchy I felt like scratching it with nails! I think that the vaccines have a slightly different ingredient every year as last year I was fine. Ian on the other hand just has a slight pin hole no matter what vaccine he has. I think some of us react differently to foreign substances...or maybe the nurse who's delivering it is a bit more sadistic!

Suzi
18-12-21, 07:17 PM
Aww Mine was just over a week before it was tolerable...

Flo
19-12-21, 09:26 AM
It is what it is I guess!(wasntme)

magie06
20-12-21, 01:13 PM
Are you all ready for Santa?

Jaquaia
20-12-21, 01:23 PM
We are! I even have everything wrapped already. We're starting baking gingerbread tomorrow too.

Suzi
20-12-21, 01:50 PM
WOW! Go you! We need pictures!

magie06
20-12-21, 02:13 PM
Can you come here and help me? I can keep you quarantined and you can even have your own room. Fly into the airport near me and I'll collect you!! Please, please, please.

Suzi
20-12-21, 07:07 PM
Get going quickly before more restrictions hit!

Jaquaia
26-12-21, 10:34 PM
Textbook shopping ready for the end of next month. It's bloody scary that it's so close!

Suzi
26-12-21, 10:37 PM
Lol! I know how scary it feels! Jump on in, you'll be brilliant!

Stella180
26-12-21, 10:49 PM
I think the money involved it academic books is ridiculous. It’ll all be worth it in the end.

Jaquaia
26-12-21, 11:47 PM
One of them is £60!!!

Suzi
27-12-21, 11:25 AM
Wow! I'm lucky most of mine have been online...

Jaquaia
27-12-21, 12:39 PM
One is online but I struggle to read on my laptop, so since the book is set text for all 3 modules it will be worth it for me to buy it. The other isn't online so I have no choice really.

Suzi
27-12-21, 05:15 PM
The one used over 3 modules makes sense to buy, but I think it's an outrage how much they cost!

Jaquaia
28-12-21, 04:39 PM
Just paid my fees, already met the criteria for study, so I guess it's too late to back out now!!!

Stella180
28-12-21, 05:32 PM
Definitely too late and even if it wasn’t you’d still do it cos it’s what you want. Plus I’d kick your arse into gear anyway.

Suzi
28-12-21, 07:07 PM
Why would you back out? You've got this!

Jaquaia
28-12-21, 10:24 PM
Lack of self-belief?

Stella180
28-12-21, 10:51 PM
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, I have so much belief in you it makes up for what you’re lacking in yourself

Suzi
29-12-21, 11:56 AM
You've been so supportive of my decision to do mine and I've been out of education for over 20 years! You've just come out of your degree with a first! You've definitely got this!

Jaquaia
29-12-21, 04:52 PM
Fingers crossed! My first textbook has arrived and it's a bit of a hefty tome!

Stella180
29-12-21, 07:25 PM
I should hope so for the money.

Suzi
29-12-21, 09:19 PM
YAY! Feeling real?

Jaquaia
04-01-22, 10:17 PM
Physio this morning. She's given me exercises to stretch my hips as the hypermobility is causing them to be too tight, though I'm much more aware of my knee position now. I'm to continue with the knee exercises and wearing my insoles to build up muscle strength in my knee. All those years of joint pain and having it dismissed with "lose weight". It feels like I've been validated items?

Taken the decorations down, it's really dark now in the corner near the TV! Even spoken to the bank and the OU. My payment was still in my account so wanted to make sure it hadn't been rejected. Anyway, all paid now so officially enrolled on my MSc. My counselling course is paid too so I start that a week on Wednesday, and my first module 3 weeks on Saturday. Module website opens tomorrow so eek!

Suzi
04-01-22, 10:51 PM
I totally understand that validation. Hope you've been able to pace and rest after physio....

We also took our decs down today and it feels odd, although H + I made the decision to leave the fairy lights out in the hedge outside as "winter lights" to keep some sparkle and cheer!

Woohoo for MSc!

Jaquaia
04-01-22, 10:58 PM
We had reindeer and a sleigh outside. Calling them winter lights would have been pushing it! (giggle)

It's scary. Going to have a look at the website tomorrow and see if I can get ahead a bit.

Suzi
05-01-22, 08:33 AM
You can do this! You'll love it!

Stella180
05-01-22, 12:13 PM
You are gonna kick ass.

Jaquaia
11-01-22, 07:31 PM
Back to driving lessons today. Bob said it was more like a drive with a friend than a lesson as it was nice and relaxed and my decision making was good. Next week were heading out of my comfort zone which is scary, but needed I think.

First counselling session tomorrow. Already anxious about it. What if my internet drops out, everyone on the course is new to me yet will know each other from their level 1. It's scary.

magie06
11-01-22, 07:41 PM
Yes it's scary. But you have got this, you can do it. Good luck.

Paula
11-01-22, 08:14 PM
You have got this!

Suzi
11-01-22, 08:39 PM
You really do have this. I know that it can be scary, but you're amazing and you'll get to know the others..

Jaquaia
11-01-22, 10:02 PM
I hope so. I think I could be a good counsellor but my anxiety isn't great at the moment so it's not helping.

Stella180
11-01-22, 11:16 PM
Everyone is a stranger until you meet them. You will be fine and if the others bother to get to know you they will see the intelligent thoughtful and caring person we know you are. Hold your head high and puff out your chest but try not to knock anyone out with your more that ample bosom. You’ve got this.

Suzi
12-01-22, 08:58 AM
What time is your session today?

Jaquaia
12-01-22, 09:24 AM
5.15 - 8.15

Going to see how they structure the sessions and then talk to them about a clash in early Feb - uni tutorial starts at 7pm on the 2nd!

Paula
12-01-22, 09:56 AM
Wow that’s a late evening

Suzi
12-01-22, 10:30 AM
I sympathise, my lectures are 6 - 9 twice a week...

Any idea what they are going to do re the clash?

Jaquaia
12-01-22, 11:17 AM
I know with my level 1, the administrator, when I spoke to her about clashes, said my uni work was a priority. Hopefully, the timing will mean that I can be there for the teaching bit and just miss the counselling skills bit that week.

Suzi
12-01-22, 08:56 PM
Is that every week, or just one session.

Jaquaia
12-01-22, 09:44 PM
Just one session clashes.

My anxiety levels are only just levelling off, I've needed to take my extra meds. Still, first session over and done with!

Suzi
12-01-22, 09:48 PM
How was it?

Paula
12-01-22, 10:07 PM
Well done, love

Jaquaia
12-01-22, 10:13 PM
I knew no one, I found it very difficult to contribute, and my anxiety levels climbed so high that I was shaking towards the end. The bits I did contribute I was told I made very good points, and at check in at the end I admitted my anxiety levels were very high and both tutors offered support if needed. I've been doing a diamond picture and watching Dirty Dancing since I finished to distract while the propranolol kicked in. Anxiety levels are still a little high but much more manageable.

Paula
12-01-22, 11:19 PM
You did all the right things and I am so impressed you let them know it was tough. Once you put the anxiety back in it’s box, do you think you’d enjoy it?

Jaquaia
13-01-22, 12:02 AM
I enjoyed this session despite the anxiety. I'm still a little on edge but propranolol, Dirty Dancing, Mamma Mia, and sticking tiny dots on canvas has made a huge difference. It probably didn't help that may laptop was playing silly buggers this morning. A good night's sleep and I'll hopefully be back to normal (or as normal as I'll ever be) tomorrow.

Stella180
13-01-22, 01:40 AM
Sorry, I only have 4 words to say… I’m proud of you!

Suzi
13-01-22, 09:46 AM
Well done lovely! Sounds like you did brilliantly! Is the course online?

Jaquaia
13-01-22, 10:55 AM
It is. They're hoping level 3 will be face to face.

Suzi
13-01-22, 11:47 AM
How are you today?

Jaquaia
13-01-22, 01:15 PM
I'm tired and a bit bleh, but I'm thinking anxiety hangover. So I'm going to do more of my diamond picture this afternoon and look at uni work this evening.

Suzi
13-01-22, 04:43 PM
Definitely anxiety hangover.... Have you been resting/pacing?

Jaquaia
13-01-22, 05:33 PM
I've been watching TV with J, reading, or doing some of my diamond picture

Suzi
13-01-22, 08:41 PM
Good. I'm glad you've given yourself that time to recover...

Jaquaia
24-01-22, 11:52 AM
Busy weekend. We went to see Cast on Saturday, and they were absolutely epic! And then we were out last night too, pizza with a friend... It felt really grown up! Though the cough A has passed on has turned into a chest infection. My chest hurts when I cough and I just generally feel rough.

Suzi
24-01-22, 12:13 PM
Can you get to see a Dr and get some antibiotics?

Jaquaia
24-01-22, 12:14 PM
It's more than likely a virus and antibiotics won't do very much. I'll make sure I drink plenty, keep warm and take cough medicine though as that helps.

Stella180
24-01-22, 12:18 PM
If it’s a chest infection you might need help shifting it.

Paula
24-01-22, 12:19 PM
It's more than likely a virus and antibiotics won't do very much. I'll make sure I drink plenty, keep warm and take cough medicine though as that helps.

You may be right, but you can’t listen to your chest like a doctor can….

Jaquaia
24-01-22, 04:27 PM
I'm pretty used to this now, it feels like every time I've had bronchitis. All I can really do is rest, take ibuprofen, paracetamol for the headache, and keep hydrated. It's not making me breathless and it's only been a couple of days. I promise I will speak to a doctor if it doesn't go away or if it gets worse.

Suzi
24-01-22, 07:38 PM
Oh sweetheart (panda) (bear) Are you resting?

Jaquaia
24-01-22, 10:46 PM
I am. I've been sat doing the diamond picture that A got me for Christmas

Suzi
24-01-22, 11:40 PM
Good. I'm very glad!

Jaquaia
13-03-22, 09:59 PM
Anyone want a cat? Sat trying to read about brain surgery and there's a cat in the way. I wouldn't mind but this textbook seems really interesting and the other is boring yet he doesn't sit on that!

Paula
13-03-22, 10:28 PM
(rofl)

Suzi
14-03-22, 08:24 AM
He obviously is trying to absorb the information!

Jaquaia
17-03-22, 12:48 PM
Just nabbed myself a free signed book! It's taken the edge off and I no longer feel like throwing my laptop through the window!

Paula
17-03-22, 01:09 PM
That sort of day??

Jaquaia
17-03-22, 01:43 PM
I restarted the laptop over an hour ago. It's still not booted up...

Paula
17-03-22, 01:44 PM
Oh. I take it that’s not normal?

Jaquaia
17-03-22, 01:48 PM
Definitely not. I think I'm going to have to try and get it looked at after this assignment is submitted.

Suzi
17-03-22, 03:22 PM
Oh no! Laptop issues are a nightmare!

Jaquaia
17-03-22, 06:23 PM
I have a form to hand in to my tutor by Monday and a poster to do by the following Monday so the timing is awful!

Suzi
18-03-22, 08:17 PM
Jaq, have you had a DSA assessment?

Jaquaia
18-03-22, 08:32 PM
I haven't applied but I have been considering it.

Suzi
18-03-22, 08:39 PM
Why haven't you applied? You have chronic illness. You get an assessment and they pretty much always suggest a new laptop, printer, I have complete ergonomic set up with a laptop riser, separate special keyboard and upright mouse, new chair, footrest, they wanted to get me a new desk but I just didn't have room... You have to pay £200, but then everything else is covered - including some pretty awesome software too.

Jaquaia
18-03-22, 08:51 PM
I think because I've always doubted I'd get it. I'll look into it some more.

Paula
18-03-22, 09:03 PM
You will get it. But what’s the worse that could happen, anyway? If they say no, at least you’ve tried

Jaquaia
18-03-22, 09:38 PM
True. I'll have a look once my assignments are sorted.

Suzi
19-03-22, 12:43 PM
It's not a difficult one to do, but has been the difference between me managing and not managing to do this...

Jaquaia
22-03-22, 07:00 PM
Sharing as I'm still excited!!!!

I did a park and reverse on the right, parallel park AND a turn in the road ON MY OWN!!!! (party)

Paula
22-03-22, 09:15 PM
Wow! I don’t think I can do that now and I’ve been driving since 1992! Well done, lovely

Stella180
22-03-22, 10:05 PM
I passed my test in 92 as well. 15th December to be precise. Manoeuvres have always been something I excelled at due to my job back then. I was driving on and off of car ramps and moving around a tight forecourt every day before I passed my test.

Suzi
22-03-22, 10:11 PM
Well done lovely! You're doing brilliantly!

Jaquaia
23-03-22, 06:25 PM
You know when you take stuff on and look at the hours they'll take and think it will be fine, you'll have plenty of time! But you're having a good day so completely forget about how a chronic illness affects you?

Yeah. That.

I had a deadline Monday, I've handed in a counselling assignment today, I have another deadline Monday, then my level 3 starts on Tuesday, so 2 hour driving lesson and a 3 hour counselling session on the same day! Woohoo for planning!

Paula
23-03-22, 07:01 PM
Ohhhh that’s not good….. anything you can do to ease the pressure?

Jaquaia
23-03-22, 08:10 PM
Not really. It's just how it's fallen

Suzi
23-03-22, 08:44 PM
OOO ouch. Can you rest and pace between it all?

Jaquaia
23-03-22, 09:13 PM
I can maybe try and build Wednesday in as a rest day but that will depend on getting on top of my uni work.

Stella180
24-03-22, 01:10 AM
Hey you! You know you are absolutely gonna smash all of this right? I dunno if I’ve ever really said this but I actually have so much admiration for you. Your life has changed massively over the past few years. Taking on your studies, moving in with James, taking on a parenting roll, learning to drive. These are all things that when I first met you, you would never have believed possible. You were in a shitty relationship, confidence was in the gutter and you were lost. It took a while but I’ve watched you grow into the woman you are today and I’m so frigging proud of you. I am truly honoured to be your friend and just seeing you take on challenges and start living your life again is inspirational and it encourages me to get up and keep going and maybe I can turn my life around too. You are epically awesome and you can do anything you put your mind to.

Suzi
24-03-22, 12:18 PM
Have you told everyone wrt your studies, about you struggling with flares etc?

Jaquaia
24-03-22, 02:13 PM
My tutor is aware.

Suzi
24-03-22, 06:50 PM
Have you told them that you are finding things tough right now?

Jaquaia
24-03-22, 08:05 PM
I haven't yet. I have a poster presentation to hand in on Monday and I can't have an extension for it.

Stella180
24-03-22, 08:33 PM
You absolutely have this mate. 100% confidence.

Jaquaia
24-03-22, 08:35 PM
Trying! My tutor said my proforma looked great so that's a positive start!

Suzi, have you got the 10% leeway on assignments? We don't. We've been told we shouldn't need it at Masters level

Suzi
24-03-22, 09:55 PM
I have a 2 week extension if needed.... Don't need to apply for it, it's automatic when you have a SoA. I'll send you a copy of what they've put in place for me and everyone else under the Disability Team...

Jaquaia
24-03-22, 10:19 PM
I think I have something similar on my profile.

Paula
24-03-22, 10:19 PM
Then use it!

Jaquaia
24-03-22, 10:24 PM
I can get an extension no problem, my tutor has already offered. I need to have a proper look at the assignment and plan my time

Stella180
24-03-22, 10:27 PM
Like I said you’ve got this mate.

Suzi
25-03-22, 07:55 AM
If you need the extension then take it. I did for my last assignment and actually would have only been 4 hours late if the late submission box was there, it wasn't until the following morning. Don't put so much pressure on you to not use it, for me it actually made it easier to just work on it, as it took the pressure off a bit...

Jaquaia
29-03-22, 10:16 AM
Just found out that I've passed my counselling level 2 so woohoo!!!

Paula
29-03-22, 10:34 AM
I’m so proud of you! Tho never doubted it!

Stella180
29-03-22, 12:11 PM
Of course you did. Never doubted you.

Suzi
29-03-22, 05:42 PM
I'm so pleased for you!

Jaquaia
02-04-22, 09:44 AM
Just realised... My graduation ceremony is next month! Eek!!!

Paula
02-04-22, 09:55 AM
Are you looking forward to it?

Jaquaia
02-04-22, 10:09 AM
Yes and no. It's the cumulation of 3 years hard work in very trying times, so I deserve this celebration of my achievement. On the other hand, it's a venue I've never been to in a city I don't know which is getting my anxiety going a bit, and what the hell do I wear??

Paula
02-04-22, 10:58 AM
Something you feel comfortable in, that’s smartish. You don’t want to feel self conscious in something that you don’t feel right in

Suzi
02-04-22, 11:13 AM
It's exciting! You can do this! What city is it? Wear something exactly as Paula says. Something you feel comfortable in, but that's smartish.

You definitely deserve this, and we want photos!

Jaquaia
02-04-22, 12:37 PM
It's in Harrogate. There will definitely be photographs!

I suppose I should start shopping and give myself plenty of chance to find something!

Stella180
02-04-22, 12:53 PM
It’s a good excuse for a new outfit.

Jaquaia
02-04-22, 02:55 PM
Ok. Decision made. I'm going to wear the dress I wore to my brother's wedding. It's gorgeous, it's nice and summery which will be good for late May, it will go with my robes which are navy instead of the usual black, it has pockets so I have somewhere to store my phone, it's smart, comfortable, and after what I paid for it, I want my money's worth out of it!

Paula
02-04-22, 05:00 PM
Definitely sounds like the right decision!

Suzi
02-04-22, 06:33 PM
Fantastic decision. Besides you look fantastic in it!

Stella180
02-04-22, 07:27 PM
Sounds like a plan

Jaquaia
03-04-22, 09:52 PM
Caved and finally asked for an extension. My tutor is awesome and has given me a week and told me to get in touch if I need more. Peer reviews are finally finished but still waiting on mine! Hopefully tomorrow, then I can edit my poster ready to submit.

Suzi
03-04-22, 09:53 PM
I'm glad that you've asked for that extension. It's the sensible option...

Paula
03-04-22, 09:59 PM
I know you didn’t want this, but it’s there to help you

Jaquaia
04-04-22, 08:47 AM
I know. It feels like I'm off to a bad start, though in real terms it's just a case of working through my Easter week off.

Suzi
04-04-22, 11:23 AM
Definitely not off to a bad start at all. The extensions are there for you if you need it. Get yourself a DSA form and fill it in....

Jaquaia
20-04-22, 01:47 PM
I'm using my grace period. I don't really care now as long as I have something half decent to hand in. About 400 words left to write on the biopsychosocial model and a press release to evaluate and I can submit.

Remind me why I signed up to this again?

Suzi
20-04-22, 05:05 PM
Because it'll be fabulous at the end... I'm holding onto that hope too!

Jaquaia
20-04-22, 05:18 PM
It's gone but moment of panic when my laptop went tits up and kept kicking up a 400 error message everytime I tried to load my module website! Still, a restart sorted it and it's submitted so going to focus on that.

Paula
20-04-22, 05:28 PM
Well done, you’re awesome!

Stella180
20-04-22, 06:55 PM
You do realise when you get a but flustered about putting your work in you usually get fab results? You’ve got this mate.

Suzi
20-04-22, 08:59 PM
It's gone but moment of panic when my laptop went tits up and kept kicking up a 400 error message everytime I tried to load my module website! Still, a restart sorted it and it's submitted so going to focus on that.
Well done love!

Have you made any headway with applying for DSA?

Jaquaia
20-04-22, 09:06 PM
I haven't yet. I need to get some ink for my printer.

Suzi
20-04-22, 09:12 PM
Do you have a local library? If you can't get it sorted, ping me your address and I'll print it out and send it up to you...
