So Storm Ciara? How's she treating you? We've got fence panels down and really bad wind and rain... Anyone else? Hope you're all staying safe and warm and dry!

Wet and windy here, lunch at the Cock yesterday, I think it'll be lunch at home today.

I’m not leaving the house today - it’s awful out there

We are on flood alert. Took Ted for a walk earlier and I’ve never seen the river break it’s bank this bad ever and the rain shows no sign of stopping anytime soon. The river level has gone from under 50cm to over 3m in less than 12 hours. That was this morning, the river level is still rising. We had a break from the rain for an hour and it’s just started again now.

I was out for work at 6am and have had small branches flying at my car, had wheelie bins skidding across roads in front of me and its pushed my car around a fair bit as the car is only small.

Its been horrible here but at the moment has seemed to calm down a bit and the sun has come out a little bit

I think we’ll be ok, just checked and the river level and it’s dropped 10cm in the last hour. The river is less than 150m away from my house. We’ve been on alert before but never flooded.

We’ve got an amber alert for wind. The storm is much worse this afternoon. I went to Church this morning and it wasn’t too bad. Many of the older members stayed away. There are many trees down locally and train cancellations. I will have to see if college is on tomorrow as there are many old trees in the grounds. The cats want to go out but I’m keeping Bertie in. D is hoping to go to Church to ring a quarter peal soon. There is a member coming from Cambridge. I don’t think he is going to make it.

Storm Ciara hit here yesterday and is still making her presents felt now. The rivers around are very close to bursting their banks, and I've even seen water coming from a stone!! The door is shut and I'm not moving until tomorrow.

One of the main roads near me was blocked by a fallen tree, the roundabout near me flooded, branches down all over and the Humber Bridge was completely closed for only the second time in its history.

It's really chilly if I'm honest it's like it's gonna snow but I live near the sea so I don't think that's happening any time soon unless I move in land LOL

Suzi

Both my kids made the decision to go into the office. Trying very hard not to stress over that….

Suzi
18-02-22, 01:51 PM
Have you checked in on them?
Have you seen the O2 in London?

Paula
18-02-22, 02:03 PM
Katie’s home. Jess doesn’t finish til 6 so hopefully the worst will be over by then

OMG just seen the O2!!!!

Suzi
18-02-22, 02:20 PM
Glad she's home!

It's amazing the damage to the O". All trains and bus replacements have been cancelled round here...We're now down 4 fence panels and Marc's had to rescue one of my hanging baskets from next door!

Stella180
18-02-22, 05:51 PM
It’s been a bit windy around here. I need to go rescue the wheelie bins which went for the wonder down the road but other than that I’ve stayed home watching The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. Pretty sure my roof is still attached.

Paula
18-02-22, 06:21 PM
So many trees down and roofs off in my area…..

How's everyone doing with the heat?
I'm really struggling in Sun/Mon are meant to be around 40 - 43 degrees! I'm struggling now with 32 degrees.... YUK, YUK, YUK!

Paula
13-07-22, 11:38 AM
Yep, that’s about right…

Jaquaia
13-07-22, 11:54 AM
I'm hibernating indoors mostly and wearing factor 50+ when I venture out. Though currently have a sunburnt scalp... Thanks alopecia!

Suzi
13-07-22, 12:31 PM
Bless you! Marc always wears a bandana - whilst they stop him from burning, they increase the heat and as he has no hair anywhere in and out of his body he struggles to get rid of heat anyway... Top that off with his vitiligo and my sun allergy we hibernate inside as much as possible when the sun shades outside stop covering us when the sun goes round...

Jaquaia
13-07-22, 01:28 PM
James is going to get me a straw hat like A's! I usually have a cap on but underestimated how hot it was.

Suzi
13-07-22, 03:52 PM
Good plan!!

magie06
15-07-22, 03:40 PM
I went to Tayto park without a hat, and where I part my hair got sunburn. I learnt a lesson that I shouldn't go ANYWHERE without a hat again.

Suzi
15-07-22, 04:09 PM
Ouch!

I bought sun allergy sun cream yesterday, I'm hoping it's going to stop the blisters!

Jaquaia
16-07-22, 07:06 PM
I'm supposed to have a driving lesson on Tuesday....

Paula
16-07-22, 08:08 PM
Oo I’d cancel that if I were you….

Suzi
16-07-22, 08:49 PM
I agree - down here it's a red weather warning and "risk to life".... The school has shut and it's remote learning only on Mon and Tues.

Jaquaia
16-07-22, 09:22 PM
We're just outside the red weather warning

magie06
17-07-22, 12:41 PM
Please be careful everyone. Drink lots and lots of water. Stay in the shade between 11 and 4. Wear loose fitting long sleeved tees and if going out wear a hat.

Suzi
17-07-22, 01:51 PM
So very right.

Jaquaia
18-07-22, 07:57 PM
Driving lesson cancelled, poor Bob had a 3 hour motorway session today... 2 15 minute breaks, 2 litres of water later and the poor sod was shattered! And that's a good few degrees then it's expected to be tomorrow!

Suzi
18-07-22, 08:06 PM
It's definitely toastie!

magie06
19-07-22, 01:52 PM
How are you coping with the heat today? Our temps have definitely come down a bit, but it's very warm still. We also have a lot of clouds today.

Jaquaia
19-07-22, 02:06 PM
We're currently at 37 degrees. Walking outside feels like when you open the oven door while you're cooking!

Paula
19-07-22, 03:35 PM
Peaked at 34. I’m not enjoying it but thank god its cooling tonight

Suzi
19-07-22, 07:59 PM
It's topped 40 here... I am not enjoying it at all.

Jaquaia
19-07-22, 08:29 PM
Peaked at 37 here, absolutely hate it. Managed to panic J by casually mentioning that I sometimes pass out when I get too hot... Ooops!

Suzi
19-07-22, 08:53 PM
Lol! I bet that made him calm and cool lol

Jaquaia
19-07-22, 08:55 PM
He said he may have forgiven me now (giggle)

Paula
19-07-22, 09:05 PM
We’ve had rain! I’m so happy (happy)

Suzi
20-07-22, 04:04 PM
It was much cooler in Wales than it is here... YUK! We had thunder and rain last night, but it hasn't been enough to clear the air...
