I've been suffering from depression for over a decade. I've tried every medication there is to try and I've been ti counselling - all to no avail, or even relief. I don't know what else to do now as I'm slowing spiralling further and further into the deepest depression of my life. I honestly don't have a desire to keep going with this misery.

Hi and welcome. I’m so sorry you’re struggling so much. What support do you have around you? When was the last time you saw your doctor?

I’ve struggled with depression since I was 16. I’m now 45 so for the best part of 30 years. I thought I’d tried everything without success until a few years ago my psychiatrist told me there was always a way through - it just sometimes took a bit of trial and error to get there. I’m now on a combination of drugs which, mostly, enable me to live my life. I’m not cured but am treated well enough that I have a life. Have you seen a psychiatrist? What meds/combination of meds have you tried?

Hi and welcome. I was diagnosed around 13 years ago though have probably been struggling for longer. There are actually 21 ADs licensed for treatment of depression, but often doctors don't like prescribing some of the older ones. My GP hadn't even heard of the one the secondary mental health team put me on. It's taken me 12 years to find a combination that makes me mostly stable. Maybe ask for a referral?

Hi and welcome to DWD.

Are you eating and drinking ok? Not drinking alcohol? Getting some exercise? Do you have a good support network around you? When was the last time you saw your GP for a review?
Sorry, loads of questions, but it often helps to get the basics covered...

You are very welcome here! I've been where you are. Please, please don't give up. Like the others said there's help out there. I've been diagnosed since 2009 but looking back, I think I've suffered since I was a teen. The most positive thing is that I started a newer antidepressant last year and I'm the best I've ever been.
Please don't give up. You are very important and would be a big loss to those who know you.
